Chapter 12 - Things Goes Well (Enough)

I had woken up since 6 to go for my run, I could not stand the idea of Derek next to me. It was like being in a beautiful dream, knowing that soon you'll have to wake up from it. As usual the lycan twins were on the trail with me, it had somewhat become a habit of ours to run together in the morning, either that or Derek had instructed them to do so.
"Good morning." Jake greets me as he heads to the kitchen for his coffee. "Good morning." I rush past him to get to my room, hoping that Derek had left and if he hadn't , I could at least hide him. If Jake knew, then the whole group would assume something was up with me and Derek, which was totally untrue, no matter how much I wanted it to be real.

"What's the hurry? We don't meet up with the gang for another hour. Let's have breakfast." He grabs hold of my wrist, while playfully pulling me to the kitchen. "I'd love to but I'm super sweaty and all I wanna do is shower.  Make me some toast,I'll be down in a sec." I rip my hand out of his and before he can try to get to me, I run up the stairs and into my room, closing the door and locking it quickly. I take a moment as I rest my forehead against the door.

"Well that's a way of making an entrance." I nearly jump out of my skin as I hear Derek's voice  behind me. I turn around to see him rubbing the sleep out of his eyes and sitting up. His bed hair and coarse voice made my head woozy, but I fight through it. Instead of doing something dumb, like run up and kiss him, I straighten myself and head to my desk , depositing my phone and air pods on the desk. "Sorry if I woke you." I apologize, busying myself with anything, in order not to look at him. "It's fine. I need to head back to my house and take care of business anyways. I'm actually ashamed that I did not wake up earlier. I am missing my morning work out with the lycans." I hear him rise from the bed and stretching, I keep my focus on untying and taking off my shoes while I lean on the desk chair.  "Sorry. I didn't know. Or else I would have woken you up." I finish with my shoes and bat them away in a corner. "It's OK. I think I needed the sleep. Just a little issue though, next time you and another male do something in this bed, you might want to change the sheets. It's an irritating smell." I gasp.
Did he think I was in bed with another man ? No!

"I do not know what you are insinuating, but the only male that has slept in here is Stephen." I turn to give him a bold look. "Why was he in your bed?! He is married." He growls, marching towards me in a grumpy way. "He was sleeping on the floor of my bedroom door, so I gave him the room and I left to sleep downstairs. No biggie." I roll my eyes, heading to the bed side table drawer. "He should not be doing that. He is mated and a mated male should not be sleeping in another woman's bed. He was also supposed to look out for you not the other way around. What if Zander had taken you? That's unprofessional. I will have a word with him when I get back." He ruffles his hair. "He was tired. I just gave him a place to sleep. You kept him on me for 24 hours. What did you expect? Please don't make a big deal out of this. You are here now, so let's just drop it." I take out my JBL flip 3 speaker and put it on. "Now if you'll excuse me , I'm going to shower and get ready for the day. When you leave please make sure no one sees you or I will not hear the end of it." With my speaker and phone in hand, I waltz into the bathroom and start playing my Shower Concert playlist.

"It's been 2  hours. Where are they?" Chloe complains for the millionth time since we've arrived. Aley and Chloe had been the ones to collect me from my house this morning, Jake had said he had an errand to run so he would not be able to come help earlier. But funny enough, all of the male had not arrived yet. We were currently decorating the stage with fake vines when Chloe burst out into another complain. "They'll get here when they get here. Relax." Aley rolls her eyes, as she staples the vibe to the stage floor. "But what if something has happened to them?" She huffs, crossing her arms. "We would have know by now." I untangle the vines. At my words, the door of the hall opens and in comes Jake, Alex and Sam. Chloe drops the vine box to the floor and aggressively speeds to the other side of the hall. "Whoa babe, what are you doing? You know it's forbidden to speed walk in public." Alex frowns. He was telling the truth. In public places, that was not our pack land, we were prohibited to use our full strength and speed unless it was a life and death situation. "I don't care. Where were you? You didn't reply to my texts or calls." She smacks him upside the head. "Damn woman, we went to get our costumes tailored and I forgot my phone at home." Alex soothes out the pain on his head. "Whatever." Chloe stomps back to us, clearly still angry but a bit of relief on her face.
