Sacred...
Before our time began
This place knew all there was
Before the foot of man
Dreamtime...
Mystic rays of sun
Through paper barks and gum trees
Rainbowed waters run
Tall grasses rim the flat
Where the water ripples by
A magic moment-smashed!
By a raucous battle cry -
"Anyone want breakfast?!"
Murdered by the cook!
...You had to grin and bear it
'Twas the curse of Reedybrook
As we pegged a spot and camped
I somehow sorta' Knew
Before the ashes settled
I would learn a thing or two
For whatever foul befell
One knew it had to be
All in the name of cricket
And the flying doctor-- see?
I was here to view the games
Pen poised for a song
Whichever way it went
The saga would be long
Gawd strike me roan!
There's a book in how we found it
So I done a sorta' serial
To try 'n' get around it........
