"I'll meet you back here in fifteen minutes," Piper called back to Calvin as she headed out of the dining hall. She hurried up to her cabin to change and get her purse. She was surprised to find Lily there, doing something on her phone.
"Lily, we have to leave in ten or fifteen minutes. Are you ready?"
"Yeah."
Lily had curled her hair, but other than that her outfit was just like what she wore every other day. Piper, on the other hand, took the opportunity to dress up. The concert was going to be hosted outdoors so she dressed warmly. On Wednesday she had bought a long sleeve, orange dress for the concert. She paired the dress with thick white leggings since it was short and therefore would be very cold. She pulled on her brown combat boots which matched her brown, faux-leather crossbody purse.
"I'm heading back to the dining hall now. Are you coming?" she asked Lily.
"Right behind you."
Piper grabbed her knee-length, white cardigan on the way out the door. They were waiting in the dining hall at 7:50. After a few minutes, Bryce and Calvin exited the kitchen and the four of them went outside to the parking lot.
When they were only a few feet away from Bryce's old sports car, Piper joked, "Is this thing safe?"
"She may not look like much, but she runs fine. But if you're not comfortable riding in it, you could always walk to the concert."
"I'll take my chances with the car." She smiled and stepped into the back seat. Calvin acted as DJ on the way to the concert. He played mostly Twenty One Pilots, which was fine with everyone in the car. Piper sang and rapped along to most of the songs.
They arrived fairly early, so finding a parking space was no problem. They also found good "seats"- there were no actual chairs, just standing room. But the area around the stage quickly filled up with other young adults, and the concert started promptly at nine o'clock. It was a two-hour concert and would give the foursome just enough time to return to camp before the twelve o'clock curfew.
The crowd went wild when the Treasures came on stage and got the concert going. They started with their most popular song and during certain parts, everyone sang along as loud as they could. The volume from the crowd was unbelievable.
Ten minutes into the concert, the concert staff started selling beer throughout the crowd. Bryce, being twenty-two years old, gratefully bought several beers throughout the two-hour concert. Calvin would have tried some if it weren't for Piper "mothering" him, as he put it.
"I'm going to get a hotdog. Anyone else want one?" Piper asked in between two of the songs.
"I'll take two. Ketchup and mustard," Calvin replied.
Piper was waiting in a fairly long line when she was surprised to hear her name. She turned around and was even more surprised at who had called her.
"Piper?"
"Killian."
The six-foot, dark-haired eighteen year-old was someone that Piper could have gone without seeing for a long time.
"What are you doing here?" Killian asked with a smirk.
"I like concerts. My family lives near here, remember? What are you doing here?"
"Same."
"Yeah but you don't live anywhere near here," Piper pointed out.
"Ah. Have you been checking up on me?"
Piper's death glare put an end to Killian's cockiness.
"I got a job at a camp around here."
Piper was about to ask which camp when Lily called to her to let her know that Calvin was eagerly awaiting his hotdogs.
