Reeve P.O.V
For a second, I feel a warm, happy sensation, knowing we're so close to getting Jared, my Jared back. Phoenix. Not too far from Jasper's house. We could hop on a plane right now and she'd be in my arms by the end of the day. We could be happy again. But then I notice the gleam in Aro's eye and my heart falls. What he wants compared to what I want are worlds apart. He wants Jared only for her power, I want her for her love. Her personality. Her looks are a bonus. I would have loved her whether she was deemed attractive or not.
"Phoenix?" Aro repeats. "How did you find her?" He eyes the guard with interest. "Demetri found her, Master." The guard replies. "I can give you an exact address as I'm sure you'll need it." The guard smiles proudly at his work. "Excellent!" Aro's claps his hands once. "We'll go there immediately. Reeve will come with us." Again, I've no say in the matter. Whatever he wants, we have to obey.
As soon as the guard leaves, Aro goes into a state of chaos, ordering certain guards to do different things. "Demetri! I want the exact location of Jared by the end of the flight."
"Jane, we need you, your brother and Felix for security. We'll also bring Renata."
"Santiago, alert Marcus and Caius and have them ready in fifteen minutes!"He turns to me and smiles. "Reeve, darling," He opens my bedroom door. "Pack a bag of clothes, sanitary essentials, the usual. I'll be here waiting for you." He pushes me into my bedroom and I close the door for privacy. I lean back against the door and smile in an intense fit of happiness. I'm going to see Jared again. Whether in good circumstances or not, I'm going to see her. Jared. My girlfriend. The excitement is spiralling deep inside me.
I rush and grab a bag. I double everything. Two pairs of jeans, t-shirts, underwear, shoes, socks. I pull my brush, hairspray and eyeliner from the bathroom and shove them on top of my clothes. Aro knocks my door minutes later. "Reeve? It's time to go sweetheart. Come on." My door opens and I quickly haul my bag onto my shoulder then it's off to the runway.
"How did you even get a plane?" I stare at the huge black jet before us in awe. Aro must have paid big money to pull this off. "Reeve, you know I'm very resourceful." He waves his hand. "You bought a plane?" I ask, wide eyed. "Ah, details details. Get on the plane. We'll have time to talk later." He shoos me on gently. We start boarding and as I relax in my seat, I notice in dismay, my stepmother Sulpicia has accompanied us on this trip. I huff in sheer desperation.
Aro sits beside me, Sulpicia perches on the arm of his seat. I tut and turn away. "Reeve, would you like anything to drink?" He asks, gesturing over to a counter full of cold drinks. I shake my head and plug in my Ipod, but I don't play any music. This way I maintain the illusion of being invisible, but at the same time, I can eavesdrop on people's conversations. I'm sneaky, people just don't realise it.
Barely minutes later, everyone is under the impression I'm deaf to the world through music. And that's when Sulpicia starts to talk.
"Shouldn't we just give up? I mean, surely we can find Reeve another mate?" She looks bored, filing her nails, still perched beside my father. My uncles, Caius and Marcus, are sitting opposite me. They flash a glance at me, while I pretend not to hear anything and give them both an innocent smile which they throw back instantly to prevent suspicion."Anyway," Sulpicia drones on. "Jared hasn't got a gift, what power can she give us? And really Aro, what were you thinking? A Cullen?" She shakes her head in disgust. Her words boil something up deep inside me. Who does she think she is, speaking about my girl like that? I jump from my seat and storm over the back of the plane. "Reeve?" Aro stands. "Is something wrong?" He asks. I turn back and pluck out a headphone, pretending not to hear. "What?" I ask. "Is something wrong?" He repeats.
"What? No, I'm fine. Fine. Absolutely. Are the bedrooms this way? Great, I'm off for a nap. Bye!" I rush off quickly before he can see how angry I am. "I think she definately heard you." I hear Caius remark.
In the plane's bedroom, I flop onto the large bed and sigh deeply. I pull out my phone and dial Jared's number.
Ring ring, ring ri- "Hello?" My heart jumps into my mouth. It's her. She actually answered. My God, I'm so overwhelmed what do I say? "Hello?" She tries again.
"Uh...hi." I answer lamely. "Reeve?" She asks. "Yeah, hey. I'm sorry." I mumble, tears running down my cheeks. "Hey baby. How's things?" She asks. "Uh, not great. I..I miss you." I admit, whimpering."It's ok. Maybe, we could hang out soon?" She suggests. "I could catch a flight over or something?" Oh Jared, if only you knew. "Uh, yeah, great." I mumble. "So is it true? Is Aro really your father?"
"Oh Jared, I'm so sorry!" I burst with emotion. "He told me not to say anything and I wanted to but I just didn't want him to get mad with me. I just didn't know what to do!" I sob."It's ok, baby, it's ok." She soothes. "So, I take it you're a vampire now?" She tries changing the subject. "Yeah. It'd be better if you were here." I groan sadly. Before she can answer, the voice over starts speaking. "Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to land. Please fasten your seatbelts."
"What is that?" She calls over the phone. "Uh, nothing! How's Jasper?" I ask. "I don't know. I moved back in with Aunt Charlotte and Uncle Peter." Oh, that explains Phoenix.
"Really where to?" I ask. She quickly gives me the address and I jot it down on a piece of paper.
"I have to go baby, Uncle Peter's calling me." She sighs with regret."I....I love you Jared." I murmur. She sighs. "I love you too," Then she hangs up, leaving me with a familiar feel of sadness, but at the same time, I feel happy, relieved knowing I'm going to see her in the next few hours. We should be there by twelve. I leave the bedroom and head into the main longue of the plane, where the others are sitting. "Aro? I mean....Dad?" It'll be difficult grabbing his attention due to the fact that Sulpicia is sprawled across his lap.
His eyes are fixed on her. Frustrated, I walk around so I'm standing right in front of them. He blinks at me. "Reeve! Have you been to sleep, darling?" He cocks his head to the side. Sulpicia looks annoyed with me intruding. "No, I have Jared's address." I wave the piece of paper at him. He takes it from me, Sulpicia slides off his lap and saunters off. He glances at the paper even more, a smile sketched onto his face.
He looks at me proudly, pulling me into his arms and giving me his full attention. "Demetri, take this to the pilot." He hands him the paper. He looks at me again, smiling. "That's my girl." He murmurs. "Well done."
