"Uncle Peter!! Oh my God, do you have any idea what I've been through?" I yell as I throw myself down the wooden steps outside and wrap my arms tight around his neck. "Hey, don't forget I'm here too." Aunt Charlotte steps out of the car and hugs me. "Hey Jaz," Peter announces as Jasper makes his way down the steps. Without even a "hello" or a "how are you?" He glares at me, gives a respectable nod at Charotte and Peter and departs into the woods.
"He's not feeling too good." Carlisle reasons with them. "He never is." Charlotte interrupts before Peter can get a word in. Peter tuts at her, but he doesn't seem angry. "Peter! Charlotte! My amigos!!!" They turn to stare at Emmett as he jumps the steps and pulls Peter into his usual suffocating 'hug'.
"Hey buddy!" Peter responds and holds on tight. "Never knew you were so attracted to Peter, Emmett." Edward smiles, patting Peter's back. Peter and Emmett let go of each other and clear their throats awkwardly. "Let's go inside." Edward suggests and they nod as they walk in.
I spend the rest of that day sitting in between Peter and Charlotte, practising my own death glares for Jasper and playing a funny game of Alice and Rosalie imitations with Emmett, making everybody crack up laughing.
"I think we'd better put you into a school, Jared." Alice suggests over breakfast the next day. "School, really? I'm here for a week, Alice." I say. "Yes well its already planned." Alice says, with the slightest hint of irritation in her voice. "Why plan things when I can't have a say in them?" I ask, annoyed.
"Well, Peter and Charlotte also think its a good idea. And....as your stepmother, I care about your education." She smiles. "That's a big word coming from you..." I mumble quietly. "Sorry Jared, what was that?" She asks, with an innocent smile.
"Nothing." I snap, angrily. She stands up straight and runs her hands down her pleated skirt. "Good, now eat your toast, drink your tea and be out the front yard in ten minutes." She orders, but kindly. "What for?" I ask, following her with my empty plate. She turns and laughs. "Its Monday, Jared." She informs me. "And?" I ask, though I know what's coming.
"Time for school! Are you ready? Great, now outside." She hands me a purple rucksack filled with stationary and excercise books. "Good luck!" And before I can object, she slams the door in my face, leaving me to face the school run alone with Jasper....Yay....
"Right," I snap as soon as I slam the car door. Jasper flinches at the sudden sound. "If this is how school runs are going to be for the next few years, I will die half way through my life and that Jasper.....is a very bad thing as I haven't even kissed my crush from year nine yet." I say. Jasper nods and smiles slightly. "Who's your crush?" He grins. "Oh you know, she's just a gir..uh I mean boy." I smile. He nods, still grinning and starts up the engine. "Here we go." He mutters.
*LESS THAN SIXTY SECONDS LATER*
"Wow, you go faster than Alice! You're a lunatic!" I gasp as he parks the car. He turns and smiles. "Well I'm sorry honey but you're already late." He reasons. "Oh great, thanks Jasper, first day at a new school only for a week and I'm late. Thanks!" I yell and jump out of the car, getting my bag caught on the gearshift and yanked it furiously as I walk into school.
"Hey." says a blonde haired boy of about seventeen as he catches up with me. "Hi." I mumble grumpily. "Why the long face?" He asks, trying to be friendly. "I'm late, Jasper said so." I say, and start jogging to get to my first class.
"Oh Jasper, yeah I get it." He mutters after me. I turn and frown at him. "What was that?" I snap. He smiles at the floor, looks up and says, "So you're the Cullen's little pet."
