                                                                            Chapter 1

"Thank you, mum" I said and kissed her cheek, before struggling out of the car. "Have fun and do what your teachers tell you" she repeated like the third time today. My mum. I loved her, as she was the sweetest and caring person in the whole world, but still sometimes she should really treat me like the 18-year old girl I was. I nodded with a smile to show her that I had heard her and waved, when she drove away. Slowly I turned around with a frustrated sigh. Great, back to reality, where I was nothing, but the little freak with the scholarship, I thought with a smirk. I've never wanted to visit the West-Coast Private School, with all these arrogant and rich students, who had never to work hard to get what they want. I've never had an easy life like they had. But seeing my mum's proud smile... I just had to accept this scholarship if I was honest to myself, I also accepted, because I was too ambitious to avoid a challenge. Unwillingly I grabbed my bag and walked through the doors of the school, which seemed to me like the portals to hell. I stopped in the middle of the hallway. Wow this school was really big. My blue eyes looked from the right to the left in search of the school office. Finally I spotted a sign on which stood School office/ Directory. Before I knocked on the door, I stroked my blouse smooth. "Just come in" I heard a voice from the other side of the door. I entered the warm room, where a middle-aged woman with long black hair smiled at me. "How can I help you, my dear?" she asked friendly. I was about to answer, but then suddenly the silence was broken by a man shouting loudly: "Slowly I lose my patience with you! You can be lucky, that your parents are paying a lot of money to the school; otherwise you wouldn't be here anymore! Detention! I guess you already know where to go, as this isn't your first time, Mr. Wellington." The second door in this room, a sign told me that behind it was the directory, opened and a young man came in. "Sure, Sir" he said over his shoulder and rolled his eyes with a smirk. The secretary gave him a pitying smile. She reminded me of my mum, just a person who always sees only the good sides of a human. "Again, Mr. Wellington?" she asked. He ran his hand through his pale brown hair and grinned mischievously:" Of course, Ma'am, the same procedure as every day." Did he just recite Dinner for one? , I wondered. Suddenly someone cleared his throat:"Could you please step out of the way?" As I had been lost in my thoughts, I blinked and looked up. Honestly for a few seconds I forgot to breath, because everything I could see were these deep green eyes. Soon an arrogant spark appeared in them and I noticed that the guy in front of me had risen his brow questioning:"You aren't deaf, are you, Darling?" My mouth dropped open. "I...Of course, I'm not. Sorry" I stuttered, stepping out of the way. I heard a low chuckle and felt a warm breath on my ear:" Thank you, little one." I knew that I was small and hell, I was pretty sure that this guy had to at least 6 feet high. But nevertheless I hated to be treated like I was weak, because of my shortness. "Hey, I'm not that...!" I shouted after him, not sure if he had heard it, as he had already left the room, but I thought that a low chuckle had reached my ears. A bit angrily I shook my head and stepped up to the counter of the Secretariat. "Don't mind him. Mr. Wellington is friendlier as he wants people to think he is" the black-haired woman said:"So how can I help you, my dear?" An incredulous smile appeared on my face, not really believing her that this... Mr. Wellington could be friendly, charming yes, but truly friendly? Don't think so. I tucked a loose strand of my brown, slightly curled hair behind my ear.  "My name is Marilyn Adams, I'm new here and need to pick up my schedule here, I think." "Oh yes...let me see where I find it. Adams...Adams" she repeated again and again, till she had found it between the data of all the students:" Here it is. I hope you feel comfortable here quickly" she said, handing me all I would need to find my way. "Thank you, ma'am" I smiled at her, before leaving the warm room again. A short look at my phone showed me that I was late. As quickly as I could I hurried to my first lesson, of course not without getting lost in the huge school building.
