Chapter 5
Detention! I couldn’t believe it! Me, Marilyn Adams, a goody-goody shoe, being punished! It cost all my self-control to hold back a frustrated scream. The worst thing was which teacher would watch us. Come on, just guess who! Exactly, it was strict Mr. White, who seemed to hate me. But detention was nothing like I had always thought. Feeling very uneasy I chose a seat in the first row. “Seems like, we are going to waste some time together as usual, Mr. W.” My eyes got wide in shock. What the hell was wrong with this guy?! I was pretty sure, that my strict teacher would kill him. Carefully I was watching the scenery, even though I only wanted to close my eyes, but I wasn’t able to look away from Mr. White’s face. Every second it would turn to a lobster-like red. Soon it will happen. Silently I counted to three.

My teacher started to laugh loudly. He laughed! “Mr. Wellington, you will never change, will you?” Liam grinned and shrugged: “Not too soon, Michael. I promise” he joked, sitting on the teacher’s desk. My jaw dropped. Un-be-liev-ably! I did not even notice, that Liam had sit down next to me:” Your face is incredible” he whispered into my ear, his warm breath sending a shiver down my spine...again. I’ve got goose bumps on my arms, when his index raised my chin to close my mouth. Oh hell, what was wrong with me?! I turned around, facing him, and I regretted it immediately, as his bright green eyes were resting on me and he was so close...too close. Marilyn James! I slapped myself in my mind. “Stop flirting with me” I hissed quietly. A mischievously grin appeared on his face:”Oh Darling, you would know, if I flirted with you and just to make it clear; I’m not flirting with you. Honestly, look at you and look at me. You are average and I...well I could get every girl, I want.” I clenched my teeth. My blue eyes twinkled angrily and I decided to just ignore him. Before I turned away, he smiled handsome, but there was a teasing sparkle in his eyes:”D’aaw, if you are mad, you are almost cute.” I rolled my eyes and turned away, hardly trying not to let my fist meet his face. As I had to distract myself from this jerk and hated to waste time, I got my Biology book out of my bag and started to read the next chapter. Yeah, little nerdy me had always been a bit faster than the teacher was. “Wow, you're taking your scholarship seriously, hm?” Out of the corner of my eye, I looked at Liam, who had put his head to one side. I could only describe him as adorable right now, as he reminded me of a confused dog. Even though he was still an arrogant jerk a slight smile appeared on my face. I simply shrugged:”Of course I do. Otherwise going to school would be a waste of time at all.” He chuckled quietly. What a happy person, I thought, rolling my eyes. “Then just skip school” his deep voice whispered into my ear. “What?!”I could not help my voice shaking. “Skip school, Darling” he repeated slowly as if I was stupid. “I’ve understood you the first time!” I hissed loudly and quickly turned toward the blackboard, making sure Mr. White hadn’t heard, but surprisingly...he was gone. Again this warm, familiar chuckled sounded in my ear. “Seems like, it’s time to go” Liam said cheerfully. “Wait...what?” I asked, not sure what he meant. “You are coming, or not?” he stood already at the door, raising an eyebrow. What was wrong with this guy? That and nothing else was the question. I just stayed on my chair, looking at him confused. “Oh, don’t be such a goody-goody shoes. This is Mr. White’s and my ritual. After half an hour, he leaves and gives me permission to go home as well” he explained and leaned against the door frame, waiting for me. I chewed my lip, thinking, but soon I gave up with a sigh, grabbed my book bag and walk toward him. A huge grin appeared on Liam’s face, wrapping his arm around my shoulder:”Darling, just stick to me and you will survive this crap of a school.”
