                                        Chapter 3

At 6 o’clock in the evening I left the bus and walked the last few metres to my new home. I used my key to open the door and directly a tasty scent hit my nose, making my mouth water. “Hey, mum. I’m back!” I greeted her loudly, while putting my book bag down to the ground in the floor, which was pale and comfortable like the every room. Our house wasn’t big, just two bedrooms, one bath- and living room and the kitchen, toward which I was heading now. My mum smiled warmly at me: “Welcome home, honey. I hope you are hungry, because I made your favourite meal. I even bought some ice-cream for desert.” Oh my god! I almost screamed happily and quickly hugged my mum, before setting the table for dinner. Soon we both sit in the kitchen and eating the delicious food. “So how was your day?”  She asked me, while putting the dishes into the dishwasher and grabbing a bowl of ice-cream for each of us. “Fine” well, this was just a little lie: “I even made a friend already, I think. Her name is Gillian” I added. My mum smiled happily: “Good to hear, honey” but then she sighed quietly. “What’s wrong?” I asked worried, because she seemed upset. “Well, I haven’t found a proper job here yet, but don’t worry.” I knew the smile she gave me now was a fake, but I smiled back at her and grabbed my bag again: “I’m going upstairs, doing homework.” “OK, you know I’m proud of you, do you?” I nodded, slightly embarrassed, before going to my room.

I grabbed my notebook, before throwing myself onto my bed. As soon as it was started, I logged in on my Facebook account. A bit bored I was scrolling down the familiar blue and white screen till suddenly I heard a low Pling and a smile appeared on my face. Curiously I opened my new notification. “You’ve got a new friend request of Gill M.” it said. Of course I accepted it and checked if my friend was still on, but she wasn’t. I shrugged and rolled onto my belly, before checking out some of my classmates’ and people’s, I had already met at my new school, profiles. Don’t judge me! I’m curious and I would do almost everything to avoid doing my homework right now. I know, I know. Whaaat?! A nerd with a scholarship who hates doing homework? Yes, that’s me. I was even a freak between nerds. Nevertheless I ended up reading through “Mr. Wellington’s” Facebook site. It wasn’t hard to find him, because everything he had posted had a lot of likes. But nothing on his site helped me to find out more about him; everything I knew now was that his name Liam and that obliviously he was very popular. I rolled my eyes and logged out. His profile seemed as arrogant and bad-boy like as he had seemed, when I’ve met him. Before I started to finally do my homework, I put my notebook on the charger. After 20 minutes, luckily I hadn’t that much to do, I finished them and changed into my sleeping dress and climbed onto my bed, pulling the blanket above me. So I lay for a long time, starring at the ceiling without finding any rest. Everything was silent, but the wind outside my window. I sighed quietly and looked on my phone to check how late it was. Oh crap! It was already 3 am in the morning. I had only 3 hours of sleep left.

“Honey, wake up” a gentle voice whispered into my ear. I only moaned and pulled the pillow onto my head. But as soon as my mother has left my room with a sigh, I swung my legs out of my bed. This can’t be a good day...I thought with a smirk. 3 hours rest! Argh! I walked, well more crawled, to the bathroom and got myself ready for school. Usually I would be too late, but luckily my mum drove me again.
