I could hear everything.
I could feel someone's hand intertwined with mine.
I could sense the fear coming off of everyone.
However, I couldn't move. I tried to respond to questions like "Aria can you hear me?" or "Are you ok?", but my lips felt like they were cemented together. It felt like my brain was no longer attached to my body. Like all the nerves in my limbs died out, leaving me completely numb. But worst of all, all I could see was black. I was swimming in a dark abyss, not capable of escaping and not capable of communicating with anyone or anything. I was completely and utterly alone.
My heart pounded harder and harder as my breathing patterns increased. I couldn't take it. It was too overwhelming. The voices wouldn't stop. The noise. Everything.
And with that, I let the darkness engulf me and felt a blanket of peace lay upon me.
----------------------------------------------------------------
A warm and cozy essence hit my body as laughter filled my ears. My eyes fluttered opened to see a little girl playing with a barbie doll. The room was filled with warm colors and plush couches. The fireplace was lit as small particles of debris flew in the air. The place was peaceful. A small smile grew on my face as i gazed upon the little girl. Before I could blink, the girl abruptly stopped playing and turned her head towards me.
"Mom?" she asked as she tilted her head. I furrowed my eyebrows while she got up and walked towards me. I stepped back a little, but that didn't stop her. She started picking up her pace and before I could react, she ran through me, like I was nothing. Like I was a ghost.
I looked down at my hands and back up at the girl who already made her way up the stairs.
"Wait!" I called out as I ran after her. My chest was heaving up and down as me eyes searched through the corridor for the girl. "Damn, I'm out of shape." I wheezed.
I made my way down the hall, the floor boards creaking with every step I took. I reached for my necklace and rubbed it as I turned the corner. There, staring into a room, was the girl. She didn't flinch or even blink. She just stood there with a blank expression on her face. Her barbie dropped from her hands and clanked against the ground. My heart began to race as I slowly walked towards the girl.
I stared at the girl, scared to look into the room. Her face was expressionless and not being able to read her was even more frightening. I took a deep breath and peered into the room. And there, right in front of us, was a women laying in a bathtub full of water. The color was drained out of her face and her glossy eyes stared at the ceiling.
My eyes filled with tears as I glanced at the little girl and back to the corpse.
"Mom?" both me and the little girl whimpered. A tear trailed down my cold cheek as the little girl ran to my mother's side.
"MOM!" She screamed as she tried waking her up. I wanted to help her or do something to make her feel better, but I couldn't move. Tears uncontrollably slipped out of my eyes as I watched it unravel. I quickly backed out of the room and slid down the wall until I was sitting on the carpeted floor, sobbing as I hugged my knees.
That little girl was me and this was the start of the terrible life ahead of her. And all I could do was watch.
I closed my eyes hoping that it would stop the tears. I plugged my ears with my finger to block out the cries from the little girl. Slowly, everything got louder and louder. I clenched my eyes harder and shoved my fingers deeper into my ears, pain overflowing my body. The noise was unbearable. An ear piercing scream escaped my mouth as I instantly sat up. My breathing stifled and my heart rate slowly decreased.
