I ran down the stairs and sped walked towards the Kobayashi simulation room. As I approached the door, it swung open with McCoy and Jim exiting, arguing about the event that just occurred.
"What the hell happened?" I asked angrily, earning the attention of the two. Kirk just stole my thunder. He better have a damn good reason.
"I didn't do anything!" Kirk exclaimed, putting his hands up. Both Bones and I shared a glance and then looked back at Jim, our arms crossed. I raised my eyebrow and looked into his eyes. Finally he cracked.
"Okay, okay fine." He placed his hands on his hips. "I might've hacked into the test and tweaked it. A little bit." He said nonchalantly. Bones' jaw dropped as my eyes widened.
"You did what?!" I shouted. He shrugged his shoulders as Bones stood there, too shocked to answer.
I scrunched up my face in outrage. This man, with a brain the size of a peanut and the mental capacity of a two year old, just cheated on one of the most hardest tests in all of Starfleet. And just stole my thunder because HE didn't want to learn how to handle unwinnable scenarios? Are you kidding me!
I slapped his head. "You're an idiot." I spat as I went back up the stairs and back to my living complex.
I heard footsteps running after me.
"Ari!" Bones voice rang into my ears. I whipped around to see Bones jogging towards me with someone following him. Jim.
"What?" I sighed, trying to calm down. I put my right hand on my forehead while resting my left on my hip. I started massaging my temples.
"How did your exam go?." He panted as he caught up to me, Kirk coming in close.
"I got asked by Pike to be his new Tactical Officer on the U.S.S. Enterprise." I stated, bringing my hand down and resting it on my other hip.
They both looked at me in awe. "Oh my god Ari, that's amazing." Bones smiled, then slowly that smile started faded away as he furrowed his eyebrows. "Why aren't you jumping with joy?"
I chuckled. "Because--" I pointed to Kirk. "pretty boy over here just did something so huge, and let me say- totally against the rules, that it kinda made me not really in the mood."
I turned around around, starting to continue on my walk back to my dorm, again. Well I tried. Someone was holding by arm, preventing me to leave the conversation. I looked back at the hand that was grabbing me. I slowly progressed up the arm to see Jim's face. I yanked my arm away from him.
"Ari, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to ruin your day." He pleaded. My eyes slightly softened, but then I thought about the reason I was mad. I had a right to be mad.
Before I could snap back, Uhura did it for me. "Kirk, who the hell do you think you are?"
Jim turned his attention to Uhura. "Uhura,----"
"Do you think that this made you look smart and superior?" she interrupted. "Because that is the complete opposite of what it did. You made us all look like idiots because you couldn't stand to accept the complications of the test. We all had to deal with it, and you should to."
"Uhura--" Kirk tried to explain, but Uhura cut him off again.
"This exam was supposed to test how well you would do as a Captain, how well you could handle difficult situations. And what did you do? You cheated it. The whole thing. This proves that you don't have what it takes to be a Captain." I glanced at Kirk who gradually became weakened by her words. "You will never have your own crew, and you'll never be like your father." She said forcefully, poison enlaced in her words. My heart stopped. She couldn't have said that.
