Year 2233

Screams resonated throughout the U.S.S. Kelvin as it warped through space. " Hebel, we need you in medical bay immediately," a voice of a medical officer rang into Nathan's ear as he proceeded down one of the ships' halls. Sweat slowly dripped down his forehead as his footsteps echoed through the corridors of the Kelvin. His heart was leaping out of his chest while he slowly approached the door to the medical bay. The doors slid open as he walked through, scanning the room until his eyes fixated on a beautiful woman with vibrant green eyes, tan skin, and sweat drenched, jet black hair. He rushed to her side and knelt by her, grabbing her hand. She looked into his concerned blue eyes and gave him a pained smile.

"You're here," she gasped as pain surged throughout her body. She let out a strained scream as she squeezed Nathan's hand.

"I wouldn't miss it for the world." He squeezed her hand back. She through her head back and screamed once again.

"Just a couple more pushes Elora. You're almost done," the medical officer said as the frantically grabbed a towel from one of the nurses.

"I can't!" she cried out. "It hurts too much, please, I can't."

"Honey, listen to me. Just a couple more pushes and we will have a child of our own." He looked deep into her dilated eyes. She nodded and gave one more push, the most painful push she had ever given. She shrieked as tears streamed down her face. She then stopped and everything went quiet. Elora and Nathan looked at each other, slightly scared of the silence. He looked at her and watched as her face changed when baby cries projected into their ears. They both looked up at the doctor simultaneously as she carried a beautiful baby.

"Congratulation," she smiled, "It's a girl." Nathan let out a chuckle as Elora let out a sigh of relief and extended her arms to hold her little baby girl. As the baby was put into her arms, she smiled ear to ear. Nathan softly held it's hand, laughing.

"What should we name her?" He asked as he played with her tiny feet. Elora gazed upon her in deep thought. She examined her big green eyes and little button nose. After a couple minutes she turned to Nathan.

"Ariana," she simply stated, "after you grandmother". Nathan looked back at the baby and grinned.

"Ariana Hebel, I love it." He kissed the baby's head. When his lips left Ariana's head, the ship jerked causing Nathan's hand to release Elora's. She desperately looked at him, fear engulfing her body.

"First officer Hebel, report to the bridge immediately." A voice sounded through the speaker. Nathan looked back at Elora, noticing how frightened she was. He gave her a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"Don't worry, everything will be okay. I'll see you soon," he told her and gave her hand a small squeeze. She nervously smiled back giving Nathan's hand a tight squeeze. He looked at her one last time before he let go of her hand, running back to the brig.

"Be safe!" Elora called as Nathan darted out of the room.

Before Elora could even take one breath, two medical cadets rushed towards her, pushing a white wheel chair and medical equipment in hand.

"Mrs. Hebel, we need to go this instant."

"But--" Elora started, but it was no use. She was cut off by other cadets helping her into the chair and gently taking Ariana out of the new mother's arms.

"My husband--"

"Your husband will join us on the shuttle. Right now you just need to stay calm." The head of medical bay instructed.

Elora nodded, her heart leaping out of her chest.

The cadets pushed her down the hall at speeding rates, the walls just becoming a white blur.
