Part 5

Nikki's P.O.V

I don't know why I had called for his help. I was scared and I wanted my brother to be here to save me like he always was.

Max had known the man was about to say my name again to cause me pain. I'm scared out of my mind. "Don't you dare say her name!" Max screamed at him.

The man had smiled at Max. "As you wish. So shall you be joining us?"

I had to tell him not to. I pushed and pushed until I felt the mind connect.

'Don't do it Max. Please.'

'Nikki?'

'Max don't do it. He's just going to inject you with this stuff to. Please just get away from him.'

'I'm not leaving you here with him.' I winced. It was hard to keep this mind link going. 'I'm getting you out of here.'

"So son what will it be? Will you come with us or not?"

"No, I promised I wouldn't to her."

"Such a shame. Nikki kill him."

I stood. I could no longer defy him. I looked at my brother, but it wasn't me looking. Those new powers he injected had become their own monster.

I ran at my brother with great speed. I felt my nails sharpening into claws. I pleaded with my mind to send him the message to run.

"Run Max!" My mouth obeyed me.

"No! I'm not letting him take you!"

I slashed my hand at him. Dang it! I couldn't control it. It was like someone was controlling me.

My hand had slashed through his shirt and nicked him on the chest. I could smell the blood and it was like that fueled the monster even more. I had to get control over my body. I was not going to kill my brother.

I ran at Max again. The claws were getting longer. I could feel something starting to come out of my head. My ears had moved to the top and turned into dog ears.

The man laughed behind us. "Alright Nikki," I stopped at the sound of my name. "You've had your fun for now. It's time to go to sleep." The man disappeared and I felt myself gain control over my body.

Max started towards me. "No stay back. It isn't over yet." I turned and ran in the direction the man was last in. I jumped to the top of a tree to find a video camera there. I slashed it down. I sat up there in the tree till I felt myself turn back to normal.

My ears went back to be on the sides of my head, my smell went back to normal, and I started to feel pain again.

I jumped out of the tree. "Max, where are you?"

"Nikki, what was that?"

"That was my supposedly new powers."

"Can you control it?"

"Not yet, but I will be able to soon." I paused for a moment. "I'm sorry,"

"What for?"

"Getting you dragged into this, I shouldn't have called for you."

"He was going to find a way to get me out here one way or another. It isn't your fault."

I looked down away from my brother. I felt my eyes begin to water. I hadn't cried since that day when those boys flushed my head in the toilet.

"Nikki it's ok."

I winced in pain. The sound of that name hurt to hear. "Don't say that name. Just call me Nick." I looked up to my brother and finally the tears started going down my face.
