"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams"

---

"Lacy!"

I turned my head to see my bestfriend Kayla running towards me, her short blonde hair swishing over her face as she dodges the crowds of people.

"Kay!" i squeal, grabbing her and pulling her in for a hug. The weekend crowds of people in the train station surround us as we stand in the middle of the platform,

"I'm so excited for today!" Her face turns into a huge grin and I can't help but smile as I glance at the sign with train times,

11:34 - London, Blackfriars

"Are we getting the 11:34 one?" She follows my gaze to the sign,

I nod slowly, "Yeah, it stops right on the thames so I think that's best"

A small squeal comes from Kayla as she tugs on my arm, "we haven't been to London together in ages! I'm so excited!"

I can't help but laugh, "Calm down kayla, it's just london"

"Just london? I love london!"

"That's good then" I smile to myself as the train pulls to a halt in front of us, "Because we're about to go there"

The doors open and I step in quickly, grabbing the nearest seats so I can stare out of the window. As we pull away again, I look out into the countryside. I have to admit, I'm excited about London too. but for different reasons.

Kayla's excited because of the 'glitz and glamor' associated with london, whereas I feel free when I'm there, grown up and invincible.

Like I'm no longer an ordinary 16 year old, I'm worth something. It makes me realise how much more to the world there is, how much is yet to discover...

-

The train stops at Blackfriars and we leave the station, Kayla bubbling with excitement as we catch a first glimpse of the thames.

"Wow" Kayla grabs her phone and take a quick picture of the view, eager to get a closer look, but my attention is elsewhere.

A small Starbucks is visible behind us, in the corner of the bank. it's almost hidden but I'm sure it's open, and the smell of coffee entices me as we nearer.

"Would you mind if we stopped for a quick coffee first?" I bite down on my lip anxiously, pouting at the cafe,

Kayla laughs, rolling her eyes and linking her arm through mine, "You're obsessed Lacy... but ok, I could kill for a hot chocolate"

I grin and drag her through the doors, the smell of coffee beans hitting me instantly. The familiar decorations and lighting of Starbucks make me feel at home, and I order my usual, a cappuccino with chocolate sprinkles and creme.

Heaven

A small booth is empty in the corner and I head straight for it, perching down on the leather seats and waiting as Kayla joins me.

"Starbucks is so good" I watch as she takes a sip of her hot chocolate and grins,

I nod in agreement, stirring my coffee round in the mug using one of their wooden stirrers. It's unusually quiet in here, and the log fire in the corner creates a sense of warmth.

"Only a few weeks now till christmas! I can't wait, I think jack is going to get me those new boots I like, but I'm not too sure. he's so cute lately, it's adorable. The other day he..."

I pretend to listen as she babbles on about her new relationship, nodding every now and then to look interested. I gaze over her head through the window and spot a huge crowd further down the bank, and as it gets nearer it seems to expand in size,

"Woah" I murmer, and Kayla pauses, waving her hand infront of my face,

"Hello?" she waves frantically, snapping me out of my daydream, "Earth to lacy?"

I point past her at the fast approaching crowd, "Look"

Kayla turns quickly, admiring the flood of people. Suddenly, as they get even nearer to the window, people begin to break off and soon there's only a few people left, but they're still heading towards us.

"Do you think it's someone famous?" Kayla peers over the top of the booth anxiously, "Maybe it's one direction?"

"They're in Japan" I state suddenly, surprising myself that I knew this information,

I watch as they enter, a bunch of girls still concealing whoever it is. Kayla seems to find this interesting and stares wide eyed at me, "How do I look?" she frantically tries to flatten her hair with her hand,

"Fine" I laugh, watching as the small crowd leave the counter and take a seat, "you look fine"

It's then I see them.

Two teenage boys, sitting in the centre of the girls. One with a brown- actually more like a blonde- quiff, and the other with brown curly hair.

As the girls begin to leave them in peace to enjoy their orders I get a good look at them. they look familiar, and I lean across the table to kayla,

"Do you recognise them?"

She shakes her head slightly, "I think they're from a boyband, I just can't think of which one"

I nod slolwy, dragging my attention away from them and wrapping my cold hands around my coffee in order to gain some heat, but due to the recent commotion it's mostly cold now.

"They're insanely good looking" Kayla continues to stare and I shield my face with my long blonde hair,

"Stop looking" I hiss,

"They're probably used to it, with looks like that" she winks and I frown,

"You have a boyfriend, jack something? or have you moved on already?"

She gasps and hits my hand playfully, "I'm not a player"

I laugh, sipping my drink, "Whatever you say"

I'm aware of her grinning and grab my phone from my pocket, resting it on the table and unlocking it swiftly. When I next look up, Kayla's gone.

My eyes dart to the left where I see her standing next to the booth where both boys sit, trying to act casual as she pretends to get sugar from the tray.

Before she can embarrass herself any further I grab my bag and sling it over my shoulder, then hurry to get her.

"What are you doing?" I whisper urgently

"Go along with it" she smiles cheekily and I grab her arm,

"You have a boyfriend" I remind her, keeping a firm hold of her jacket,

"And you dont" she points out, shaking my hand off her, "And it's about time you did"

I curse under my breath, guarding the path which stands directly between her and them, "Don't you dare"

Kayla pouts, "Oh come on Lacy, let me set you up for once"

"Not with them" I hiss back, steering her off towards the exit,

"So I can set you up with someone else?" her eyes sparkle and I groan,

"Kayla!"

She grins, "Fine I'll stop, sorry"

"We're leaving" I say quickly grabbing her arm,

She sighs next to me, but follows anyway.

I walk swiftly towards the exit, making sure she doesn't leave my side. By the time we leave there, I let out a sigh of relief and for the first time ever,

I'm glad to be out of there.
