"Do something today that your future self will thank you for"

---

The next morning, I grab my suitcase and head downstairs to where George is having a conversation with my mum.

He stayed the night round ours, but my dad's rules meant George had to sleep downstairs on the sofa and I had to sleep on my own as normal.

For the rest of the night we mostly chose clothes for me to pack and then settled down to watch Christmas films, it was nice.

"Hey honey" mum calls from the living room when she hears me retreat down the stairs,

"Hi" I rest my suitcase up against the door and enter to see George sitting down on the sofa surrounded my family,

I give him a wary look and he smiles reassuringly back at me, "Hey Lacy"

"Are you ready?" I ask eagerly, wanting nothing more than to leave,

George stands up and pulls his small rucksack onto his back, rustling his hair and walking over to me.

I turn and wave to my family, "Bye, I'll be back soon"

They all look at me dissapointly, since when I told them last night I was going they didn't take it very well. Mum cried and announced that I'm 'growing up too fast', dad shook his head and told me I'm 'missing out on a lot". So let's just say I'm not the favourite daughter at the moment.

Before they can react I open the door and usher George out, grabbing my suitcase and wheeling it along behind us.

"You ok?" George asks nervously, taking my suitcase from me and carrying it himself,

I nod, "Yeah, glad to be out of there"

He grins and i tie up my hair messily as we walk along, stopping it from blowing in my face.

"Ok so tell me about your family?" I ask curiously, "I bet they're not half as bad as mine"

He giggles, "I think they'll all like you, they have no reason not to"

"So they know I'm coming?"

"Yep" he elaborates the p and I smile,

"This is so exciting, I've never been away for Christmas before"

"I'm excited too" George grins and sticks out his hand for me to take,

I raise my eyebrows at the gesture, usually couples hold hands?

He smirks as though reading my mind, "it won't mean anything"

I slip my hand into his and sigh happily as we approach the station and get on the train, my suitcase laying on the seats opposite us.

The morning fog surrounds the windows and I fun myself looking at the remaining countryside as we set off on our way to bristol.

"I know what we can do" I exclaim suddenly, turning in my seat to face george,

He looks at me startled, "What?"

"Truth or dare, I love this game"

"Okay, you start"

I bite down on my lip, "Truth or dare?"

George thinks for a second, "Truth"

I nod and stare opposite us while I think, "Erm... Why do you like me?"

George grins, "The real question is... why wouldn't i"

I roll my eyes sarcastically, "Ok, my turn now"

"Truth or dare?"

"Truth"

He smiles widely at this, "Ok, why do you like me?"

"So original george" I joke,

"Erm... I like you because you're nice and funny"

For some reason this makes him laugh, "That's why?"

I look harshly at him, trying to look serious, "It's not funny"

He shakes his head, still grinning, "Ok, now it's your turn... truth or dare?"

"Truth"

George smiles, "How many boyfriends have you had?"

I quickly look away and swallow nervously, "Promise you won't laugh?"

"Promise"

I sigh, "None"

His eyes widen, "Seriously?"

I scowl, wanting to change the subject, "Yes, now it's your turn"

He opens his mouth to say something then stops, "I'll have a truth please"

I smile, already knowing the question, "How many girlfriends have you had?"

"Stealing my question?" he laughs, then answers when I don't reply, "Two"

I nod, but in my head I'm in shock. How is it possible for someone like him to have only had two girlfriends?!

George interrupts my thoughts, "Your turn again"

"I'll have another truth please"

"Again?"

"Yes" I say simply, "I would chose a dare but that could be risky"

"You know me too well"

"I don't know you that much"

"Why?"

I shrug, "We haven't really spoke about us"

George nods, "Ok" then he ruffles his hair, "So you wanted a truth?"

I nod back at him,

"Okay... tell me about you. Anything you want to say"

I bite down on my lip and look away from his stare, focusing on the seat infront of me, "Err... my name is Lacy Evans, my favourite colour is purple, I love strawberry laces and pasta, I have one friend, I like..."

He cuts me off, "Woah wait, one friend?"

I nod, "Yeah, Kayla"

"What about me?" He almost looks upset for a moment and I feel like slapping myself in the face,

"Of course you are too, i just don't really class you as a friend"

"What would you class me as then?"

I stare at my shoes, "Erm, I guess a friend... but not..."

He giggles, "You make no sense"

"Sorry" I laugh with him, "Can I carry on now?"

He nods and I start talking again, "I hate prawns, I have a phobia of spiders, my family annoy me more than they should do, I hate my hair..."

Once again, I'm cut off, "Why do you hate your hair, it's beautiful"

I look up at him as he says the word beautiful and instantly look away to avoid eye contact. No ones ever called a part of me beautiful before.. no ones ever complimented me before.

"It's annoying"

George frowns, "I like it"

"Thanks"

We sit in silence for a while and I watch the countryside whizz past through the window. As we get further away from where we started I notice the change in scenery, less countryside and more buildings. The usually green backdrop everywhere I go is slowly tuning to the brown from bricks and wood, and it feels refreshing.

The rest of the drive we make small talk up there, and George tells me the names of people in his family and how to recognise them. By the time the train pulls Into the station I'm fairly confident on all of them, and despite the many times he's told me how lovely they are, I can't help but feel nervous.

The first thing I see as we step off the train is a huge white billboard, with the words,

'Welcome to Bristol"
