"Faith makes all things possible"

Christmas eve!
When I wake the next morning my little sister runs into my room, jumping up and down on my bed in excitement,
"It's Christmas tomorrow!" she squeals, "Santas coming"
I laugh, "Yes he is Squirt"
She giggles, happy that I'm calling her by her nickname again and begins tugging at my jeans, "Do you think Santa knows my nickname?"
"Santa sees everything" I reply, tapping her lightly on the nose,
She grins, rushing downstairs, "Lets bake cookies"
I smile at her enthusiasm, grabbing my phone from my bedside table and unlocking it swiftly,
Before I can do anything I decide to ring george, needing to hear his voice again,
"Hello?" he picks up after the second ring and I smile life an idiot at the sound of his voice,
"Merry Christmas eve!" I laugh,
"And to you too!" He says, giggling, "How are you?"
"Excited!" I exclaim, making my way slowly down the stairs,
"For Christmas?"
"Yep" I laugh again, "Santas coming George, how can you not be excited?"
He giggles, the simple laughter sending butterflies lose in my stomach, "I am very excited"
"Good" I say, entering the kitchen and opening the cupboards, "What you up to?"
"I'm actually on my way to the shops, to buy some drink for tonight"
"What's happening tonight?" I ask curiously, passing my little sister the sugar to go in the cookies she's baking,
"Family party" he giggles, "Old family Christmas tradition"
I smile to myself, rolling out the cookie dough and trying to balance my phone on my shoulder, "Have fun"
"Thanks" he says, "What you doing?"
"Making cookies with squirt" I laugh, "Christmas cookies"
George giggles, "Tell squirt I said hi"
"Squirt!" i shout, "George says hi"
The huge smile which forms on her face is adorable and I hold out the phone for her to talk into,
"Hi George" she says eagerly, "merry christmas eveeee"
I laugh, taking the phone back, "It's me again"
George giggles, "She's so cute"
"And annoying" I add, "Very annoying"
"Like you then"
"Meanie" I laugh, beginning to cut out shapes in the mixture,
"I'm nearly at the shops now, text me instead?" George asks cutely,
I smile, "Of course, bye"
"Bye, I love you"
Those three words hover in the back of my mind and even when the phone calls finished I still can't stop repeating them in my head,
Because they're true.

Later that evening when Squirts gone to bed and my mum and dad sit downstairs watching tv, I decide to join them on the sofas.
"Hey sweetie" my mum says, smiling at me as I sit down,
"Hey" I say, getting comfortable,
My dad looks at me, his face serious, "Lacy you seem so much happier lately"
I look away from his stare, focusing on the tv, "I am"
"Is there a particular guy involved? Maybe this George bloke you've been with for the past few weeks?"
'George bloke'. It seems weird hearing my dad say his name, and I turn to look at both my parents.
"Maybe" I shrug, "Maybe not"
Mum grins, "You've got that face"
I pause, "What face?"
"That face that girls get when they're thinking about a certain someone, I used to get it all the time with your dad"
I wince away from the gag factor that sentence held and try to ignore what she just said, "There's no boy involved" I lie, trying to act convincing,
"Well unless you're a lesbian I know you're lying" mum says openly, and I stare at her in shock,
"I am not a lesbian!"
Dad chuckles, "Alright calm down"
"Tell us the truth lacy" mum says more slowly this time, "You don't have to lie"
I sigh, "If you must know, me and George are dating"
"I knew it!" mum practically shouts, her eyes sparkling,
"Shhh" I hiss, "What is wrong with you today mum"
She smiles, "I'm just so happy for you, George seems like a lovely boy"
"He is"
Dad is sat silently, not moving, when I next look at him,
"What's wrong?" I ask warily,
"You're the girl from the newspaper, you're the..." he says slowly, and my mums hand flies to cover her mouth,
"George is the George who was in the newspaper?! George is famous?!"
I roll my eyes, "He's in a boyband from x factor, and yes I am the girl from the newspaper"
"George is George shelley?"
"Yep" I say simply,
Mum nods, her face fixed in the same expression of pure shock,
"George is the boy who came round here a few weeks ago?" dad asks seriously again,
I nod, "That was George"
The both sit in silence.
Time goes on, still in silence.
Awkward.....
"Well" I say, standing up, "I'm tired, see you in the morning for christmas!"
Then as quick as I can, I run out of the room and upstairs, happy to be out of that room.
At least now they know.
That night when I lay in bed I can't help but laugh to myself at their reactions,
If only they knew.
