THE PLACES YOU HAVE COME TO FEAR THE MOST PT. 2
...🏀...
AFTER a particularly tense practice in which Lucas still had lost his mojo, Daphne had dragged her pouting cousin up onto the roof of his mother's café "Come on, a game of crazy golf will cheer you right up."
"I don't think sucking at yet another game will help." He deadpanned.
"What do you take me for?" She scoffed as they made their way through the door into the open air "Obviously I was gonna let you win."
Lucas rolled his eyes but couldn't help but smile at Daphne. She was always there for him, no matter what, and he knew he was lucky to have her in his corner. He was just about to tell her so when she spotted their third counterpart taking a shot at the homemade course they'd built the summer before high school "Hales!"
The James girl raised an eyebrow as she putted the ball in the hole, watching as the pair made they way over "Any side effects?"
"From what?" Lucas questioned as Daphne grabbed a club and her usual yellow ball.
"Your amnesia."
Daphne frowned as she rejoined them "Okay, either I've actually got amnesia or I just have no idea what you're talking about."
Haley swatted them both on the arm "I'm talking about how you must've gotten amnesia because I know that you would've mentioned that you got into a fight today."
"Okay, first of all, ouch." Daphne scoffed, rubbing at her arm "And second of all, it was last period and we had to go to the nurse, then Principal Turner's office and then we had to see Whitey before we had practice and--"
"It's okay." Haley smiled, cutting off her rambling "I get it." She looked between them, frowning as she eyed Daphne's lip "Are you guys, okay?"
The Scott girl nodded with a smile "Oh yeah. You should see Tim."
Lucas sighed when Haley turned to him "You ever wake up from a really good dream and try to get back to sleep? Or you got the flu and you promise yourself that you'd appreciate normal so much more if you could just get back to it?"
"Yeah?"
"That's the way I feel." Lucas admitted "I just want things to go back to the way they were."
The girl's shared a frown before Daphne questioned "With basketball?"
He met her gaze tiredly "With everything."
