DAPHNE was grabbing her books from her locker when a familiar figure leant against the one beside it with a grin "Howdy, partner."
"Jagielski." Daphne sighed, fighting a smile "To what do I owe the displeasure?"
Jake held a hand to his heart with a mock wince "Ouch, you wound me, Scott. And here I was just coming to spend time with the prettiest player on the team."
Daphne felt her cheeks heat up and quickly turned her face into her locker to hide it as she scoffed "You say that to all the girls on the team."
"It's true." Jake smiled in amusement before it softened "We have that project due for Feeny next week. The extra credit assignment?"
"You mean our punishment?" she grumbled turning to him with a slight pout "Okay, when do you wanna meet? After practice today?"
He winced "I can't. I've got this... thing."
"Okay." she shrugged "Tomorrow?"
"I can't do after practice at all." he admitted and her eyebrows furrowed "How about Saturday before the Burning Boat?"
Daphne nodded "Sure, what time?"
"7:00?"
"AM? As in morning?" her eyes widened "Dude, it's Saturday!"
He smiled apologetically "I know, I'm sorry but it's really the only time I can do."
"Have you got a job or something?" She questioned curiously "You're always busy."
"Yeah, something like that." He gave her a slight smile before backing away "Thanks, see you on Saturday, partner!"
Daphne sighed as she watched him go before returning to her locker, but her gaze couldn't help but drift to the one beside her that Lucas rummaged through in search, falling on the Scott name tag sticking out between his textbooks. Lucas' denouncement of their shared last name had left her feeling out of place. Daphne stared at the piece of cloth, teeth gnawing on the inside of her cheek in thought until she felt eyes on her and looked to meet Haley's concerned frown. Clearing her throat, she looked back to her own locker before a group of students Daphne barely recognised from her classes walked by, sending their compliments towards the Scott cousins.
Haley sighed dramatically as she pushed away from the lockers "All right, I'm going to the tutoring centre so I can feel superior."
