DAPHNE Scott had always been a storm of emotions, feeling every one so loudly and deeply it couldn't be ignored, like a tornado ripping through town. And like a storm, everyone in the vicinity of Daphne knew to take cover and wait it out. That was why as she took her frustrations out on the River Court backboards, slam dunking every feeling of embarrassment, anger, grief that the boys just sat back and watched. None of them were stupid enough to get between her and the ball.

All except  for Jimmy Edwards.

He ignored his friends attempts to stop him, pulling his arm away from Mouth's grasp as he tentatively made his way onto the court. Junk groaned, leaning back against the picnic table "He's dead."

"Mhm--hmm." Skills nodded with a hum "Like a lamb to slaughter."

Jimmy stood idly off to the side, hesitant and weary but determined enough to utter her name "D-Daphne?" She continued her rough game of one player basketball "Daph... Daphne!"

She came to an abrupt halt at his raised voice, basketball bouncing to a stop as her head whipped to his "What?"

His cheeks reddened as he cleared his throat, a sheepish frown on his face "I just-- Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." she huffed.

"Here." Jimmy held out a powder blue t-shirt, adjusting his glasses up the bridge of his nose as she took the material into her hands "I got my mom to make you one."

Daphne's entire being softened as she looked down at the ravenshoops.com printed on front in white "Thanks, Jim."

"She also wanted to invite you over for dinner this weekend, well, I want you to come too." He babbled nervously "A-and your dad--"

"We'd love to." She cut him off, pressing a kiss to his cheek that burned at her touched before she was rushing off court to grab her skateboard "See you guys later!"

As they watched the girl skate off, t-shirt in hand, her mood considerably brighter, the four boys turned to Jimmy in disbelief and he could only shrug. While the boys took to the court, he returned to his usual seat beside Mouth, his fingers pressing against her kiss as a smile tugged at his lips.

SERVING a regular his to-go coffee, Daphne sighed, resting her elbows on the counter as she watched the man leave, taking with him one of the only three customers. It was a quiet lull and she was working alone thanks to Haley calling in sick-- and while Daphne knew the girl was faking it, she was thankful she wouldn't have the awkwardness of ignoring her.

The bell jingled overhead and Daphne perked up only to slump with a groan as she realised it was only Lucas, something he took notice of with an amused scoff "Nice to see you, too, little cousin."
