Act One
Scene One
It's lunch time in Horton's Diner. The diner is brightly lit with several large booths lining the walls, each booth upholstered in red and white. The tables are of a lacquered quality, reflecting the texture of the long bar at the center of the establishment. Behind the bar, a door leads into the back with a small window revealing the interior of the kitchen. Sam and Ham, the cooks, can be seen every once in a while passing in front of the window. Portia, the waitress, stands behind the counter, ready to serve. Madeleine and Janice sit at one of the booths. They each have a milkshake and a straw. Madeleine scrawls into a notebook as she speaks to Janice.
