Angel was flawed in many ways, she was self absorbed, sneaky and reckless. But her biggest flaw was also her most valuable asset. Angel was gifted in her ability to manipulate, it was a strange kind of magic. She was like a skilled puppet master and everyone around her existed as obedient marionettes whose strings were just waiting to be tugged on. It was rare for Angel to be in a situation that she didn't control, but if she was ever faced with the unexpected she usually found a way to make it work in her favour. And as she stood in Chinasa's hallway opposite an infuriated Jade, that was exactly what she was going to do.

"You know you should be thanking me instead of moving mad," Angel nonchalantly stated, masking any sign of the nervousness she felt not too long ago.

Jade frowned, "What are you fucking talking about?"

The sound of Chinasa's loud and infectious laughter drifted above the girls, and although there was little chance of their conversation being heard Angel still felt slightly paranoid, "Come we talk in here."

They entered Chinasa's spotless open plan kitchen, a place that showcased her family's extensive wealth. They were welcomed instantly by the smell of lavender and a calming quiet that was disturbed only by the low humming of an 8ft wide stainless steel refrigerator. Chinasa's upbringing differed greatly from everyone else's. Sam had been raised by his single mother in a house filled with chaos, Angel had been tossed between her parents for years and the twins were mostly left to look after eachother. But Chinasa had been raised by a Surgeon and a Solicitor. Dr. and Mrs Nnaji were a pair of well established professionals who wanted nothing but the best for their daughter. As Angel sat down at their stylish breakfast bar looking out on to the garden terrace, she couldn't help but wonder. Would she be having this kind of conversation if everyone had highly educated rich parents? Angel didn't resent Chinasa's wealth, none of her friends did. But every so often they were reminded of an unspoken divide that existed between them.

"Talk then." Jade demanded as she sat opposite Angel.

"Do you know Kevz, proper tall dark skin guy? '"

"I know of him yeah..."

"Well I was talking to him a while back about one party. And he told me when he was there  he overheard tp telling some people he was the one who actually shot that Akelle guy Kai caught an M over."

"Sorry what?" When Jade decided to go to Chinasa's house to carry out an interrogation she knew that Angel would probably deny that anything was out of the ordinary. And on the off chance that Angel did admit anything, Jade knew that she would likely be presented with some distorted version of the truth. She expected that, but what she didn't expect was for there to be any mention of Kai. What did he have to do with anything? Just hearing her brother's name coming out of Angel's mouth seemed strange to Jade because ever since he had gone to prison it was like he had died. No one spoke about him, not James, not her friends, no one.

Jade didn't even know that her brother had been charged with murder until his trial was well under way. Kai selfishly shut her out because he didn't want to expose her to the gruesome world that he had immersed himself in. As if she didn't know. As if Jade hadn't seen incriminating amounts of cocaine sitting casually on her kitchen counter or seen his bloody clothes sitting in their laundry basket. As if she hadn't heard what the streets had to say about her brother. But still, he wouldn't tell her anything. That made her angry, so angry. Jade didn't get to decide whether her brother was right or wrong, guilty or innocent because he wouldn't tell her a damn thing. So she was left to believe that someone she loved was capable of ending a life.
