Chapter 21

As an apology for being on hiatus for so long, I'm posting two chapters back to back, just for you guys! Even though this chapter is the shortest one yet, I hope you guys are still hype because I'm pretty proud of myself! ~Kellin

Eren's POV

Levi's breathing evened out quickly and in a matter of minutes he was out like a light. His sleeping face made my heart weak. I smiled and kissed his forehead, but my smile faded when I remembered the letter that was hiding in my nightstand drawer.

"Hanji, before I forget again, could you check my mailbox please? I'm a little busy with Levi's cake at the moment."

"Sure thing, Eren!" About ten seconds after Hanji stepped outside the shop, she rushed back inside with an eardrum shattering squeal and an envelope in her hand. "Oh my gosh, Eren! You're not going to believe this!" Hanji shoved the envelope at me. I took it from her and felt my heart stop when I looked at the sender.

"It's from Stohess..." Armin and Mikasa stopped what they were doing to join Hanji and I.

Hanji squealed again. "Well what are you waiting for? Open it!" I robotically tore open the envelope and unfolded the letter inside, carefully scanning over every word. "So? What does it say?!" Hanji asked excitedly. I blinked a few times and shook my head in disbelief.

"You're right. I can't believe this." They all looked at me expectantly. "It says I've been accepted into the program for the upcoming spring semester!"

The three of them cheered. "Congrats, Eren!" Mikasa exclaimed, hugging me tightly.

"Eren, this is amazing!" Armin said. "But why did it take so long?"

"Who cares! Eren's going to Stohess!" Hanji shouted. "We need to celebrate!"

"Guys, guys, wait... It says in order for me to get into a dorm on such short notice, I have to catch a flight on New Year's Eve..."

"Don't worry, we'll have plenty of time to celebrate before then!"

"That's not what I'm worried about, Hanji."

She looked at me in confusion, then her jaw dropped. "Levi." I nodded slowly. "Eren... Stohess is a once in a lifetime chance..."

I closed my eyes. "I know..."

I know, but I still don't want to leave him. Not after how close we've gotten.

"Can't he go with you?" Armin suggested.

I let out a slightly frustrated sigh. "Even if he could go, I'm either always going to be at school or working; we wouldn't get to see each other very much." It was really quiet for a minute.

"Are you going to tell him?"

"I have to, Hanji. I can't just leave him without saying anything."

"When are you going to tell him?"

I shook my head. "Definitely not tonight. Tonight is about him." I ran my hand through my hair. "I'll... I'll tell him tomorrow..." We were all silent for a minute. "Let's finish up so Petra can bring him home."

After that I went upstairs and put the letter in my nightstand drawer. I had honestly almost forgotten about it.

Almost.

Now it was as if the reality of it was suddenly sinking in all at once.

I took a deep breath as quietly as I could as my vision became blurry. "Please... Please understand..." I say quietly into the dark. I blinked the tears away and kissed Levi's forehead again, gently pulling him closer.

"I love you, Levi," I whisper.
