"Josh? Are you there?”

And then life filled his entire being. His heart madly pounded in his chest. He trembled in anticipation of every word Hanna says.

“Hanna.” He finally got to say.

“Josh,” she sounded as if she’ll cry.

“Hanna. God, it’s really you.” She giggled and Josh thinks it was the sweetest sound he has ever heard.

“Happy Birthday to you, Josh. I’m sorry if I just, you know, disappeared.”

Josh nervously laughed. She sounded so beautiful. He’s definitely sure that what he’s feeling isn’t just infatuation.

Love.

“Hanna, Listen. It’s okay.  Were you busy because of your volunteer work? Are you okay?”

“I’m fine. Don’t worry about me. Are you enjoying your birthday?”

“How did you know it was my birthday?”

Hanna paused then answered, “Facebook,”

“Ahh. I see, Did you see my messages and the video?”

He’s imagining Hanna seated on her bed with nervously talking to him. She looked so cute. “Yes,” Hanna answered, “You’re so sweet. Thank you. I don’t even have any gift for you.”

“No, you have. You called me. I always wanted to hear your voice.”

Josh pinched the bridge of his nose. He just wanted to say it. It is like jumping off a bridge. He wants to do it so much even if it’s the unknown. Even if there’s a possibility that he’ll lose himself.

“Josh, its great talking to you but I need to go.”

“Hanna, wait.”

“Yes?”

“I know this is insane. I doubt that you’ll even believe me. Hanna Rosales, I have fallen for you. Hard. I didn’t know that this is even possible but I did, Hanna. The days you’ve been gone were the most difficult. You were gone and you’ve huge part of me. I was so lost.”

Josh felt his eyes burn with unshed tears. His voice quake in desperation. He remembered the misery of the days he woke up that there were no messages from Hanna. He remembered the loneliness that almost killed his hope. He wanted to fight for this. For Hanna.

“If you give me a chance even just one, I could show you that I could be far better than the fairy tales you love. I could be so much, Hanna.” Josh pleaded. He never begged before.

“I missed you so much that it hurts.”Josh whispered

Hanna finally spoke, “Josh, You haven’t even seen me.”

“I know that but that doesn’t stop my heart from wanting you. From loving you. Hanna, Please.”

“Josh…”

“I want to see the great perhaps. After the finals. After every obligations I have here. I want to see you.”
He finally said it. He has been thinking of visiting Hanna ever since he realized his feelings for her. It’s only a three hour flight away, he can definitely do that.

“Really? You’d come here?” She sounded so hopeful that it wiped all the disappointment he felt for the past week.

“Yes, Hanna. I’ll come and see you. I promise.”

“Okay,” she whispered back.

She sounded so cute and happy. Josh stopped himself from jumping all over the place however he so happy he couldn’t.

“So?”

“So what?” Hanna giggled.

“Do I get this chance or what?”

“You will come here, right?”

“I promise.”

“Okay. So you have the chance, Josh.”

“Thanks, Hanna.”

“I have to go now.”

“Okay, Hanna. You’ll message me back, right?”

“I will. Enjoy your birthday, Josh.”

“Hanna, I love you.”

“I know.”

For two weeks, black clouds of unhappiness had swept Josh away. Tonight, he laughed so hard while clutching his phone. Tears fell from his eyes.

She’s the one, Josh thought.
