It happened all too fast, I fell for him almost instantly. Have you ever just known that someone was going to be a huge part of your life, whether it be in a good or bad way?
I knew,
I knew it from the first glance that he gave me. The shy smile that broke through every wall I had placed around my heart. The fortress tumbled when he spoke and I did nothing to mend it.
My name is Alyson Maddox, I'm a 15 year old highschool student at Granite High School. You could say I'm your average teen. I have friends, I'm on the volley ball team I'm pretty much vanilla.
People say I'm tall for my age but what do they know? My midnight black hair is long, almost touching my butt, and there is a purple tint to it.
You guessed it, my favorite color is purple.
My eyes have been called oceans of blue. My skin is a little pale, but it's not because I don't go outside or anything I just don't get very tan at all... I hate it. As a volley ball player I have to stay in optimal shape so I take care of my body. I'm not into myself I just like to stay fit, plus my mom has had me in martial arts classes since I was seven years old, right after my dad died.
And speaking of my dad, around my neck you will always find my necklace. It was given to me by my dad before it all happened. It's a little green orb a little bigger than a marble. My dad called it an...
...Ender Pearl
It was the last thing he gave me, and the only thing I have left to remember him by.
Anyway, back to him.
He was magnificent, everything about this boy made my heart flutter. He made me forget my past and what had happened, what I was. I actually felt normal around him, I could be my complete self... Well almost.
There was still the part of me that was afraid, the part that blocked people from getting too close to me. But he found ways to break that part of me down. We met, we laughed, we became friends, and now we are here in his room.
His dark green eyes scan my every movement as if waiting for a signal or response, but my body is still, statue like. I watch his hand slowly make its way toward my face. My cheek receives his warm touch as if it needed it.
Now, in his grasp, my breath escapes and my heart pounds against my chest. He says nothing, he just looks into my soul through my blue eyes. I can't seem to blink, I don't want to take my eyes off of him for even that fraction of a second.
He leans in, his lips inching closer to mine, shaking ever so slightly. Time stands still for him and only him. I feel his breath on my neck as he closes the gap between us.
It's at this moment that my mind begins to race, the images moving quickly in my thoughts. I lose all senses and focus directly on the images my mind offers.
Everything that came before him. All of the hurt, the sadness, the loneliness everything that had ever plagued me suddenly came rushing back. These feelings crashed into my body like a cobblestone wall. I felt every emotion that a human can possibly feel at the same time.
I feel a sensation building inside of me, filling every part of my body with light and energy. My pulse races to keep up, my mind goes blank, my breath stops. Not a sound escapes me now, or if it does I can't hear it.
The rush intensifies sending miniature earthquakes throughout my entire being. I take in a deep breath and oxygen pours into my lungs pushing my chest upwards towards him.
Then... Darkness.
Only a microsecond of darkness but it felt like an eternity. Suddenly I feel cold, a breeze whirls around me sending my skirt flowing up. My cheeks rushing with blood as I quickly throw my hands down to stop the feathery light cloth from revealing more. Looking around to see if anyone had caught a glimpse I notice that I am alone.
I look down surprised that I'm not in his room anymore. I wiggle my toes and feel the cool, green blades of grass. I notice the titanic trees looming over me blocking the night sky. The rustling of creatures catches my attention but it's too dark to see anything let alone a tiny squirrel.
At least I hope it's a squirrel.
Fear begins to creep up, from my toes, through my legs and thighs, up my stomach, reaching my chest and gripping my neck like a skeleton ready to take me to a damned place.
"No," I whisper to myself
I quickly swirl around trying to find something, someone. I had been here before. This same exact spot with the same grass and the same trees and the same thing crawling around in the leaves.
This place that had haunted me for eight years. I'm here again and I'm more scared than I had ever been before. Being here means that he is alone, he has me and I can't do anything to stop him.
This is my mind, this dark dingy forest of fear is my subconscious. Why... Why did I come here, no not now.
"Not now!" I scream.
The sound echoes through the night filling every possible space. The forest goes silent, soaking in my yelp. My heart races even faster than before, threatening to burst a hole in the middle of my chest.
"H...hello! " I try to push my voice out to anything that might hear it.
I fall to my knees and the rough dirt stings my skin. I wince just a little at the pain, and that's when I realise the truth.
I'm not in my head...
It's not just my subconsciousness...
I reach down with a delicate trembling hand to feel the ground beneath me. The cool dirt flows through my fingers as I pick up a hand full. But how? How can this happen?
How did I get here when just a few minutes ago I was with him, in his room?
The breeze whistles through the trees again and kisses my cheeks lightly. This place, this exact spot, the place where my dad was murdered. I'm really here...
It's real.
