Avengers Building
Skylar
"I don't trust him. Something seemed off about him," Natasha says as she drives me home. Skylar gives her a weird look.
"He's Hank McCoy. He's a good guy. Why would something be "off" about him?", Skylar asks while staring out the window at the cars passing by them.
"Yeah, well, good guys can turn bad. I've seen it happen," she says the last sentence quietly. She pulls into my driveway where my mom's car and Lola is parked.
"Well look who's here," Natasha says, "I'll walk you in."
They hop out of the car and walk inside. Agent Coulson and Skylar's mom sit at the kitchen table discussing what sounds like the mission they just had. They get quiet once Natasha and Skylar enter."Whatcha two talking about?", Skylar asks as she gives them both a hug.
"Nothing," Kit says quickly. Coulson gives her a weird look and turns to Skylar.
"Actually, Skylar," Coulson says while standing up.
"Coulson..." Kit says in a warning tone. He ignores her and smiles at Skylar.
"I have a proposition for you, Skylar."
"And what's that?", Skylar asks.
"Well, my team and I have a mission we're dealing with, and we could use your help."
"Why my help?"
"We've spotted a suspicious character around most of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s locations, and from what we've seen on the surveillance cameras, he's a mutant. And Fitzsimmons can't figure out what kind he is. His kind is not recorded anywhere."
"And you want my help to figure out what he is by observing him."
"Correct."
Skylar runs her fingers through her hair and bites her lip. "Is something wrong, Skylar?", Coulson asks. Kit raises an eyebrow.
"Um, I would love to Director Coulson, but I was just offered a job today that might be taking up most of my after school time," she explains.
"What job?", Agent Smith asks Skylar as has pushes back her chair.
"You guys know the scientist Hank McCoy who works at the Mutant Relations office now? Well, he came to the Avengers building, and offered me a job to be his assistant."
"You have school. What in the world made you think you could handle a job?", Kit asks her daughter.
"Don't worry! I told him that I have school. He said that he'd email me if he needed anything or ask for me to check out of school early with your permission."
Kit opens her mouth to object when Director Coulson holds up his hand. "Wait, wait. Back up for just a second. He came to the Avengers Building? Its location is supposed to be a secret. How did he find out where it was?"
Tension starts to rise in the room as all of them start to think of the horrible possibilities that could arise from this observation.
"Guys, he's a part of the X-Men. You know, with the Charles Xavier? Who's a telepath. Who has a machine called the Cerebro that enhances his mutation to where he can see people all over the world."
There's a long period of silence until Natasha says, "Well dang."
"So it's nothing to worry about. He's on our side," Skylar says with a smile.
"How about this," Coulson says, "I'll send you the video, you watch it, and then write me an essay on what you think about it. Sound good?"
Skylar nods her head. "Sounds perfect."
"Alright," he smiles, "I'll be off. My team is pretty frazzled by this, but they'll be happy to know that their favorite soon-to-be-agent is helping us."
She smiles and gives him a hug. "Bye Director Coulson."
"Goodbye, Skylar. Good luck with your new job."
Natasha hugs Skylar goodbye as well and leaves with Coulson.
Skylar turns to her mom and sighs."I start Monday."
~ A/N: I would love that job. Would you guys? ~
