After a while of walking through hallways and making turns, we finally made it Egypt. The first thing I noticed, were the people. Men and women of different ages were talking to each other in egyptian, some of them dressed with elegant clothes, some dressed poorly, but everyone was still talking and interacting. Some were still getting rid of the bandages and getting out of their sarcophagus. Ahk looked around with tears in his eyes. I took his hand. He looked at me with a smile
-It feels like I'm back home in Egypt, It's something I never thought I would feel or experience again- he said
I smiled at him, tearing up myself. He was so kind and preciuos, and was forced to leave all of this too soon. That wasn't fair.
We advanced through the crowded area, being careful not to disturb anyone too much. While we were advancing, I saw a woman walking around the place. She was giving us her back, but I still stopped dead. I would've recognized those features anywhere. Shoulder-lenght jet black hair, tanned skin, tiny but curved body. Perfection made woman. She was wearing a long sleeveless white drees, a golden belt, a golden beaded necklace and a golden headpiece.
-Queen Cleopatra- I wispered in Ahk's mothertongue
He looked at me, and then looked at the lady, who had turned around to face us. She had beautiful chocolate brown eyes with a beautiful feline shape. She had a little pointy nose and soft looking lips. She was absolutely stunning. She skanned us, until she rested her look on me. Her eyes filled with curiosity, she came slowly towards us. She stopped in front of me
-I remember your face- she stated in perfect british english -You're the woman who managed to find my tomb-
Unable to speak, I nodded. She smiled warmly
-It is nice to finally meet you, Alice Greenleaf, Daughter of Horus-
I was unable to breath like a normal person. Queen Cleopatra knew who I was, and she somehow knew that Horus was my father. Finally, I managed to spit out a sensed sentence
-It is an honor to meet you, Your Highness-
-There's no need to call me that way, I'm not a Queen here. I'm just Cleopatra- she said with a smile. I finillay managed to smile too
-May I introduce you to my friends?- I asked
-Well of course, that would be lovely-
I did a round of presentations, and Ahk and Cleopatra spoke to each other in egyptian
-I don't want to ruin the party or anything, but we're really running out of time- said Larry
I nodded, and turned to Cleopatra
-It was a pleasure meeting you, but we really have to go now. Do you happen to know where Merenkhare and Shepseheret are?- I asked her
-Yes, just go till the end of the hallway and then turn left. Their exhibit is right there-
-Thank you, Quee... ehm, Cleopatra-
She smiled
-You're welcome. And if you would be in need of any help, don't hesitate to ask-
I smiled, and we jogged away
flashback
-Hey! I think I found something!-
It had been two weeks since I landed in Egypt for my biggest quest ever: find the misterious lost tomb of Cleopatra. I had individuated the location of where the tomb could've been hidden, even though nobody had success at fiding it there. The Sphinx of Giza. The monument was a mistery itself, even without the fact that the tomb of the Queen herself could be hidden in or under there. And with adding that, things just got a hole lot more interesting.
My best friend Meg had come with me, mainly for moral support, few other workers from the British Museum were there, and some of the locals were helping us out.
My idea was that the previous reserchers didn't look the right way at the thing. I changed angles and points of view every few days. When I realized that the way I was searching didn't get any progress, I changed angle.
On what was going to be the big day, I was checking out the crown of the Sphinx. That's when I found what would have changed my life forever.
