After realizing that I needed proof I created a plan to get it. I was going to wait for the next full moon. It seemed the most logical thing to do. After all Scott's absences from school seemed to fit perfectly with the cycle of the full moon. One thing that still nagged me was why Scott seemed so normal when we met?
On the next full moon I convinced my dad to let me sleep in the treehouse. This time I had Sniffles stay in with my parents. I didn't want him to be the next "missing" dog. I contemplated the idea that maybe my neighbor Bryan's dog had met that fate. I grabbed my sleeping bag, flashlights, and a few other essentials and headed up the tree.
It was midnight and the moon was full. I watched quietly out the window. I heard a noise, but this time it wasn't coming from a bush. I carefully went to the window overlooking Scott's backyard. The noise was coming from his house. It wasn't loud enough to decide what the noise was. I decided that if I wanted proof, I needed to be brave.
As I climbed down the tree I thought about getting my dad, but I knew he would stop me. With every step I took the noises became louder. My heart was beating so fast that I thought it was going to leap out of my chest.
