Rain pounded down on the windows of the jet as my flight descended into Los Angeles through the violent storm. Strong winds shook the aircraft, making it turbulent, but still not the roughest flight I've ever taken. I peeked out my window to get an idea of how fierce the weather is before readjusting my position and stretching out my joints after the long nap I took during the duration of the flight over the Pacific Ocean from Sydney to LA; The last destination in my series of famous cities that will be featured in a collection of photographs that I shall display at a special showing in December. For now, I'm here to get the last material needed. Once I do the editing process begins. Which should take a few months.

The major reason I travel so much is to boost my career in photography. World landmarks and are a great thing to snap quick pictures of. I graduated college with a degree in professional photography last spring. Since I went to the University of Southern California, I consider Los Angeles my home. Plus there's an old expression "home is where the heart is", and last time I was here, I feel in love. But that was back when I still lived here.

We ended things after my first major move to Chicago. He had plans to leave too, anyways. He plays guitar in a famous band, who coincidentally left to go on a world tour the same time I did. The two of us don't talk much, we might text each other monthly, maybe to see what we're up to, but that's about it.

Somewhere deep down, I still miss him though. Who knew a guy I only dated for around three months could affect me in such a strong way?
Ten months, six countries, twelve cities, and he's still cemented in my brain.

I consider myself a pretty big fan of his band, too. I think they have a ton of talent, and never hesitate to add a song or two by them to my playlist. Plus, I chilled in the crowd when the band performed in New York City. Unfortunately, I remained unnoticed by him although I told him I was attending in advance.

After feeling a vibration tingle in my back pocket, I pulled my phone out to read my new text message. Speaking of my ex......

"Hey, Brooke. I heard you were in LA right now, and we got done with our tour a few weeks ago. I thought we could get together some time soon. If that's cool with you, of course."

An invitation to hang out with the one person I haven't been able to get out of my head after nearly a year? Well, duh I'm going to accept. With any luck, we might get back together. I have a feeling we're both going to be here awhile. My fingers danced across the screen as I quickly typed a reply:

"Hey Rocky. Hanging out sounds great. Just tell me when and where.😉✌️️"

I had another reply seconds later:

"Awesome. Will do. Talk to you later I guess."

I've only been in LA for twenty minutes and I already have someone from my past wanting to get together with me.

"BROOKE!!" I heard someone shout. Curiously, my eyes wandered around the entrance of LAX to find the source of the sound. My best friend, Alexis, sprinting towards me excitedly. I dropped my backpack and shoved my phone in my pocket so I could greet my much-missed companion. "Holy freakin' crap I missed you so much!" I admitted in excitement.
"Same girl!! I get so lonely without you here!" She groaned. "But don't worry. I saved you your room."
"Haha. You better have," I joked.
Alexis laughed and helped my load all my luggage into the back of her car.

"Alright, as soon as we get all this stuff back into the apartment, we've got a ton of catching up to do," Alexis exclaimed.
"Mhm," I hummed, gazing at the digital clock located on the dashboard that read 3:45pm.
"Sooo..... How about we go out for dinner tonight and you tell me all your crazy stories from around the world?" Alexis suggested.
"You have no idea how awesome that sounds," I agreed. "I'm in."
