You Boys Have Fun Playing

After changing into shorts and a sports bra with a hoodie over it I went down stairs with my hood up. I sat down silently. The only people that were still talking were Allan and Bethany. Everyone else was staring at me. I resisted an eye roll and took a bite of mash potatoes. They had called me down for dinner about five minutes ago. If I wasn’t starving than I wouldn’t have come down here at all.

Bethany said, “Allison, please don’t wear your hood in the house.” I nodded not being able to remark back and took off my hood. I pulled my long, dark brown hair into a messy bun showing my red face. Bethany and Allan looked at me confused while Beau and Jayden looked shocked.

Allan asked, “Were you crying?” I nodded while taking another bite. He asked, “Why?” I shrugged.

Bethany asked, “Are you able to talk?” I nodded. She sighed, “Well then will you?”

I sighed, “What do you want me to say?” She smiled at me only making me scowl. I really already hate these people.

Allan asked, “Why were you crying?”

I pinched the bridge of my nose, “No reason, I am just so happy being away from the two people that I actually care about in the world when I didn’t get to say good bye to one of them.” I stood up and ran upstairs.

Jayden Holden:

She pinched the bridge of her nose before saying, “No reason, I am just so happy being away from the two people that I actually care about in the world when I didn’t get to say good bye to one of them.” She stood up and ran upstairs. Seeing her red tear streaked face actually hurt. I knew why the real reason was and I actually feel like her mom deserves to die. Who abuses their child?

My mom looked at us all confused, “What was that about?”

Sam looked like he was about to tell her so I said, “How should we know? Maybe she is just homesick.” Sam’s look told me we would talk about my excuse later. He hated when I lied to mom and dad but he didn’t need to go spreading Allison’s personal life around.

Allan nodded, “That would make sense. I guess that she didn’t find out until earlier today.” I nodded.

Sam said, “Yeah that is what she told me on the plane too.” We finished dinner where the only two people that talked were my parents. I got to my bedroom right as the doorbell rang. Sam called, “Jay, it is for you!” I huffed while getting up. I walked passed Allison’s door and saw it was half way open. She was dancing to some music. She was a really good dancer.

I went downstairs and saw Alek. “Hey, Alek, what’s up?” We did our bro handshake/hug.

He smirked, “I came to kick your ass.” My dad gave him a look and he fixed, “Sorry sir; I came to kick your butt.” I chuckled remembering that Allison just told my dad off rather than apologized. She seemed like a handful. He went up the stairs while I went to get chips from the kitchen.

I walked passed Allison’s room and saw Alek talking to her. Shit. She looked a lot better though. I stepped in right as Allison bent down to pick up one of her X-Box game cases. Alek slapped her butt. In a flash he was on his stomach on the floor with on armed pinned behind his back and the other above his head. Allison was on top of him holding him in that position. Alek was struggling.

Allison said menacingly, “If you ever so much as think about hitting on me again I won’t just pin you, I will go for your family jewels so I suggest not. By the way, yes this is a threat…and how does it feel to be pinned by a girl?” I started laughing and both of them looked at me, finally noticing my presence. She got off of him quickly, “Hi, Jayden…I promise I wasn’t going to hurt your pal.” She sent him a death glare as he stood up.

I shook my head, “Nah that was awesome. Alek needs to be put in his place.” She just stared at me blankly. The only time I have seen her show emotion since she arrived is when she was playing X-Box with Sam and that phone call. I shook my head, “Come on, Alek, let’s go play.”

Allison smirked as we started walking away. She called, “You two boys have fun playing…I’m sure it will be interesting.” I caught onto the dirty joke in that and shook my head with a chuckle.

Alek said, “You’re just jealous because we won’t let you join.” I shoved him.

“Dude, she was making a dirty joke and you just made us sound gay!” I exclaimed. Allison was laughing and snorting and it was strangely a nice sound. Alek finally understood and his eyes widened. He made a disgusted face as we turned and walked away even more quickly.

That night as I was lying in bed I realized just how much I had actually missed my old best friend. I thought about her until I passed out. I asked myself; why has she changed so much? Does she remember our past? Does she still have a crush on me?  Do I still have a crush on her? Is she mad they sent her here? Is she happy? The questions kept coming, and until I was asleep, they didn’t stop.
