Chapter 11
Besides Jackson I had two other brothers. Both of whom were my mom's. We all had different fathers.
My brother Jordan is the oldest of us all. He was a freshman in high school at the time and chose to live out of state with his father. We were never close so when he called or my mom called him neither of us ever asked to talk to each other.
My brother Oliver got to see his Dad a lot. He lived with him for a little while last year but it didnt take long before he wanted to come back home. But now that he was back home he often went to friends houses. It was a great way for him to avoid Frank. Oliver was in fifth grade being only two years older than me. I wouldn't admit it until I was much older but I looked up to Oliver.
Oliver tried to look out for me by inviting me to come with him to his friends houses often. I wasn't allowed out much though. My mother said I had different rules since I'm a girl. It never has seemed fair, but I never had a choice.
Oliver finally had no choice but to stay home. I was ecstatic. Him not so much. Oliver was caught playing ding dong ditch with one of his friends. When my mom found out the next morning he had to immediately come home.
"He did what!" I awoke to my mom yelling on the phone. It was a weekend so Frank was home and I knew it wasn't about him.
"Why were they out so late to begin with?....How in the hell did you NOT know they were gone?" I listened to the one sided conversation and realized pretty fast Oliver was in big trouble.
"Get him home right now!" My mom yelled into the phone once more, snapping me out of my thoughts.
It didn't take long for Oliver to get home. By that time Frank knew what was going on and he snapped.
Oliver came in five to ten minutes later. He came into the living room while I was playing on his gameboy color. Oliver was making his way to me when Frank walked out of the bathroom.
"What the fuck are you doing out here? Go to your room!" Frank yelled at my brother.
"No. I'm going to talk to my sister." Oliver didn't bother even looking at Frank as he continued towards me.
"You don't get to decide the rules you little brat!" Frank's face was getting red. That was never a good sign. I tried to make myself smaller in the middle of the couch.
This time Oliver stopped to look at Frank. "I can talk to my sister if I want to."
Frank didn't bother with words as he lunged at Oliver. I screamed as Oliver tried to step back. It did no good as Frank's two hundred something pounds tackled my brother to the ground.
Oliver didn't have a chance against Frank. I watched in horror as he repeatedly punched my brother in the stomach. "Stop! Get off of him!" I was screaming as loud as I could. Franks hands went for my brother's throat. At that point I did the only thing I could think of.
I didn't even think about what I was doing as I jumped off the couch and ran towards the two. Wrapping my arms around Franks neck I pulled with all my might. Frank didn't budge a bit until he decided that was enough from me. He let go of Oliver's neck, turned around, and pushed me back into the glass coffee table. The glass luckily just cracked and I pushed my little body back up.
Frank went right back to beating up my brother. A moment more of fists flying and me screaming my Aunt Heather came downstairs. I couldn't have been more happy to see her.
"Get off of him, Frank! " Aunt Heather realized he wasn't going to listen. A moment after she walked away we heard sirens. As soon as Frank realized they were getting louder he jumped off of Oliver. Cops ran in and put Frank in handcuffs. Franks shoulders and arms were to big to fit nicely behind his back, forcing the police to use two handcuffs on him.
We each had an officer question us alone. I told them everything that happened and they dragged Frank away.
