*Chapter 7*

In third grade my best friend Jessica moved away. However we opened up our two story building into one house so my Aunt Heather could move in with her three kids Olivia, Kaylene, and Jared. Kaylene was in the same grade as me and Olivia was two years ahead of us. Jared was the youngest of all of us. He was 1 year younger.

I wasn't happy with our new family. Before I started kindergarten they moved to Ohio. So not only did I barely remember these people but I was no longer the only kid in the house. I preferred being alone.

***Brooklynn's Flashback***

"Listen sweetie," my mother snapped me out of my thoughts. "Your Aunt is going to come stay with us for awhile with your cousins."

"Who are they?" I asked curiously.

"They live in Ohio and need a place to stay for a little while." she explained.

"OK." By 'a little while' I didn't expect it to be for several years so at this point I wasn't really interested.

"Your Aunt Heather is going to take your room though OK?" she shifted on the beige couch uncomfortably. My mother expected a tantrum.

"But where will I sleep?" I really didn't want to sleep in the only room left downstairs.  The large windows had no curtains and I was afraid of being in there at night by myself.

My mother's face brightened from my lack of outburst. She was hopeful I would agree so Frank wouldn't have to force me. "Well we decided to rent the upstairs too so we will unblock the stairs. You can have the upstairs living room as your bedroom with Olivia and Kaylene."

"I have to share?" I was not pleased by this.

"Yes but all of you kids get the upstairs while all the adults will be downstairs." This got me excited. The farther away from Frank the better. "And you wont have to go through the bathroom to get to your room."

I was practically bouncing in my seat. "When will they be here?"

***End of flashback***

They arrived the next week, but it took me a good month to get along with everyone. To my luck the new family meant Frank was on his best behavior for several weeks. He wasn't able to keep it up for long though. All good things must come to an end.

As much as I started enjoying my cousin's company there were some major downfalls. One being I didn't get new clothes for school.

"Aunt Heather has some clothes for you to try on, Brooklynn," my mother called for me up the stairs.

I came down slowly. Kaylene dressed like a tomboy and Olivia simply had ugly clothes by choice. On top of that I was really skinny and both of them were at least three times the size of me.

"They're free. So wipe that look off your face," she said as I reached the bottom of the stairs.

"I don't have a look." I replied grumpy.

Mother scowled and led me to a dark green tote in the kitchen. I sat down on one of our wooden chairs at the table and stared down at the peeling yellow floor. "Look at these Brooklynn aren't they cute?"

"No!" I looked up horrified at the purple velvet pants and an awful puke green T-shirt.

"Knock It off and try them on!" mother threw the clothes at me. I got up and started walking to my room with the clothes. "Where are you going?" she snapped.

"To change, " I replied confused.

"You can change right here. It's only me, heather and you here." she sounded angry. Mother stood there with her arms crossed waiting on me.

I didn't dare argue at this point. First I tried on the pants. They hung loosely and just came down to my ankles. Both my aunt and my Mother gushed at how cute I looked. I had to try my hardest not to cry.

I got about a third of the way through the clothes when Frank walked in. I was about to try on a ugly Jean dress so I was only in my white undies. Trying to cover myself I ran into my room.

My mom walked in a little while later to tell me she was going to the store with Aunt Heather.

After I heard them pull out of the driveway Frank came into my room. "You need to take a shower," he said.

I agreed and went to go take one. After I got done putting shampoo in my hair Frank all of a sudden slid the glass door open and got in the shower with me. "Let Daddy help you," he smirked.

"No! I can do it by myself!" I screamed.

"Shut up you little bitch!" Frank back handed me across the face. I fell and hit my head against the tub wall.

I stayed on the floor hugging my knees to my chest under the running water. My tears mixed with the shower as I looked down to see red water at the bottom of the tub. It wasn't much but enough to make a little girl cry harder.

I looked up to see Frank putting soap onto a wash rag. He looked taller and meaner from this angle. His hair was still dry and so was the rest of him aside from his legs. "You see this Brooklynn?" Frank asked me. "It's called a penis." It looked disgusting and was pointing up. Slowly stroking it he knelt down to wash me.

When Frank was done with me I didn't think I had any tears left in me. I didn't understand what was happening but I knew it was wrong. He was no father. He was a terrible man. "If you tell anyone you will be in big trouble Brooklynn." And with that he walked away. Leaving me on the bottom of the tub feeling broken.
