 Chapter 5

"Please don't leave me! I can change, please!" Logan stared coldly at me, his eyes void of any emotion. "You made your choice. I can see why your dad left." I crumpled to the floor in tears. "Please...don't..."

I sat up with a jolt, gasping when I hit something warm with a thud. "Oof" Logan gasped, falling on top of me. "Do you mind?!" i shrieked, pushing him off me. He fell to the floor with a satisfying thud. "I was just coming up to tell you dinner is ready" he pouted, ruffling his hair.

With a final glare at me, he left the room. I sighed. What the hell was that dream about? Forcing myself out of the warm comfort of my bed, I got up for dinner. I walked by all the beaming smiles of the happy family in all the pictures, and felt a sense of loneliness. This isn't my family. Those pictures on the walls aren't of me, and they never will be.

When I arrived at the spacious dining room, I huffed. The table was long and narrow, fitting up to 15 people comfortably. Logan's family looked up at my entrance. "Grace dear, we have turkey, mash potatoes, biscuits, gravy and broccoli. If you don't want that, feel free to help yourself to anything in the kitchen." Mrs. Wolff placed a heaping plate next to Logan, gesturing for me to sit.

Logan's icy glare dared me to come closer. I gulped, sitting next to him. With a loud screech, he pushed his chair out loudly, taking his food and leaving the dining room. I looked down at my plate sadly. I felt a hand on my shoulder. "He really isn't bad, he's just upset he had no choice in the decisions us adults had to make" Mr. Wolff soothed. I scowled down. Well that made me feel better, I thought sarcastically. Grumbling, I pushed my food away.

"May I be excused? I need to make a phone call." "Go ahead dear" Mrs. Wolff smiled warmly. As I headed to my room I could hear loud music blasting from the room next to mine. I scoffed. Typical. Lying on my bed, I dialed the number I know by heart.

"Hello?" "Alexander!" I shrieked into the phone. "Damn, hoe! You almost blasted out my ear drums!" my best friend chuckled through the phone. The familiar sound of his voice brought a wave of homesickness over me. "How is everything in Hicksville?" he joked. I scoffed. “My parents pawned me off to some rich family with an asshole son." The line went quiet for a moment. "How are you holding up?" "Well" I started; thinking about the situation I was in "I guess if he wasn't such a jerk it wouldn't be that bad" Alexander stopped the conversation. "You'll never guess what Toby did the other day"

After talking to him for over two hours, we said our goodbyes and I got ready for bed. Around ten o'clock, when I was all snuggled into my comforter, the door opened quietly. Logan walked over to me. "Who was that you were on the phone with?" I stared up at him in disbelief. "Do you really expect me to answer you with the way you acted at dinner?" He glared down at me. "You know, I don't know why I came in here to apologize. You're still being a bitch."

"Leave my room. Now." he scoffed. "Whatever" he replied, halfway out the door "It's not like I care anyways."  I rolled to my side. I was half asleep when the sound of tapping at my window made me sit up. "Psst. Grace. Wake up" I sleepily walked to my window.

The guy I had met in the library, Storm, was on the ground with a handful of mulch in his hand. "Climb down!" he whispered loudly. I looked around. There were no trees, ladders or ledges for me to climb down on. "How?" "Jump. I'll catch you" he gave me a gorgeously blinding smile. I huffed. "Hold on" I ran silently down the stairs, holding my breath to check for any sounds.

I opened the front door, sighing in relief when it didn't squeak. Storm was standing awkwardly beneath my window, staring up. I silently crept towards him like a ninja, planning to jump on his back and scare him. About three inches from his back he whipped around and grabbed my waist. "Boo" he smirked, his minty breath washing over my face. "Damn" I scowled, extracting myself from his grip. We started down the road. "So why did you drag me out here?" he slipped his long arm around my shoulder. "You're going to meet my pack"
