Chapter two
I was shocked. There Chris was. On his knee. Holding the most gorgeous ring. That ring could be mine. Mine forever. He loves me. I mean we've said that we've loved each other, but him like this, in this postion, actually made it real.
My hand was still covered over my mouth. I was still in the same restaraunt with the same date. I was still surrounded with strangers. The tention was very strong in the room. Someone next to me was chewing their finger nails. It was very annoying. Several minutes passed as I just stood there looking like an idiot. The smile was fading from Chris's face. I removed my hand from my mouth. I leaned a little bit towards Chris. I whispered, "Is this real?" He chuckled and so did our audience. I like how I thought our.... It sounded so... So right. I said, "Our." to myself. "What was that?" some random person asked. I turned to face them, "Oh nothing, just thinking out loud." the same person said, "Well you should be thinking everything your thinking to all of us." "I would like to keep my thoughts to myself thank you." I answered and turned to face Chris. His smile returned. "So if this is real, then is this real." I asked. I took a step closer. I bent down on one knee and leaned into him. His eyes were again on mine. Questioning, thoughtfullness, loving, caring, mature, all these things i saw in his eyes. I closed the short little distance. Our left knees touched. He had lowered the little box. I placed my left hand on the back of his neck. His hand that was on his knee went to the small of my back he slightly pulled. Our lips touched. I wanted this moment to be perfect. I made the kiss deeper, with no toungue I pulled his neck so that he would be closer to me. I closed my eyes. I turned my head side ways. Clapping bursted around us. I pulled away. Chris folded his legs Indian style. I sat on his lap, our foreheads resting against eachother. I pecked his lips once twice a third. The clapping slowly died. That was very real. My question was answered by the kiss. That was the most passionate kiss we had ever had as a couple. We just sat there staring into each others eyes. I said, "I love you Christian Derek Brown. I WANT to be with you forever beyond death. I WANT to be cared by you until our days grow old. You Chris are my soulmate. I never want to lose you. Yes, I will marry you if I get all these things, including the ring." he smiled and we kissed again. We kept it appropriate. There were children around us. We kept our own tongues in our own mouths. We kissed just like before. It was more passionate. He pulled away and pulled me to my feet. He faced me, grabbing my left hand, he slipped the ring onto my ring finger. My ring finger, finally one. Before it was just a ring finger. Now it's a ring finger with a ring. Not just any ring. A marriage ring. Better yet, my now ringed finger belongs to someone.
Clapping started. We were interrupted from OUR own little world. I blinked several times and looked around. The whole staff of the restaraunt had come out and were whistling, cat calling, and clapping. I blushed a little, thinking of what had just happened. Chris wrapped his arm around my waist. "Check please!" he said to one of the waiters. One of them jumped and ran to the front. We sat down and waited for the waiter to return. I observed my ring. The regular conversations continued just like they had when I went to the bathroom. Moving my hand left and right. The lights shined on my ring. It reflected onto the ceiling and all over. The reflections showed a rainbow. I gasped. I couldn't look away from it. It weighed my hand down slighlty. My finger felt weird. It glissened in the light. Just like Edward. What the crap! He did not just come into my mind. Ugh. It's ok Clair. Your engaged. I smiled. I'm engaged. "I'M ENGAGED!!" I yelled to the ceiling. I felt amazing. Everyone laughed. I just grinned and looked back at Chris. He grabbed my hands. We held hands across the table. "We just graduated from high school yesterday. And now were engaged." I said smiling at Chris. "Life flashes right before your eyes." he said. "Yes, yes it does." I agreed. The waiter brought our check a few minutes later, we paid, and left. I felt naked when I walked out of that restaraunt. One of my great memories I hope to never forget happened there.
We walked hand in hand to his car. His fingers sometimes twisting my new diamond engagment ring. Our fingers intertwined. We stopped at his car. I didn't want to let go, but had to. He opened the door of his black Mazda 3. I got in and he went around to the drivers side and got in. We drove along the bare road. A few cars parked in front of houses. We held hands on our way to my house. He stopped in front of my house. The front lights were on. The lights of my parent's room were on. "Well.... Thanks for the amazing day. I loved it. I love you." I thanked him. "I love you too." he said back. He kissed me good bye and I left. I got out of the car, away from my soulmate. Away from the night. I opened my front door, closed it and leaned against the door. I slid down the door and heaved a sigh of relief. It felt like I had been holding my breath for a while. My mind trailed back to what had just happened. Chris had remembered the first time we met. He even remembered it better than I did. He had proposed to me. I had stood there for a long time not answering. I had made him think I was going to say no. I kissed him the most passionate than I had ever in our whole dating experience. I said yes. I looked down at my ring. I traced my fingers around it. I ran my fingers over the smooth crystals. I fumbled with it. Twisting it around in circles. I noticed on the bottom of the band, it was the two bands linked together like the infinity sign. Just like the flower pot.
I stood up, realizing I was in a dress, and walked up the stairs. I went to my paretns room, opened the door slightly and said goodnight. They answered the same to me. I left and went to my room. I went to my closet, stripped down, and changed into some deep blue pajama pants with a gray tank top. I walked over to my bed and fell into the covers. They welcomed me. Before I fell asleep, I looked to my left. There on a hanger hung the blue strapless dress.
