Chapter three
I shifted in my sleep. Opened my eyes, i was blinded by the bright strays sunlight streaming into my eyes. The blinds to my window were open so the sun was shining brightly. I squeezed my eyes shut, opened them again and closed them, making my eyes used to the brightness. I sat up and just sat there. Thinking of what had happened the night before, thinking of it brought a blush to my face. I'm engaged.
I better start planning the wedding. I jumped out of bed really quick. The blood rushed from my head causing me to lose vision. I stumbled and fell. I felt really lightheaded. I sat there for a few moments until I regained sight. When I did, I saw a rainbow on my wall. I stood up to touch it, but it was gone. I looked down. It was now on the ground. I just ignored it and went to my window. The sky was a bright blue, no cloud in sight. The tree infront of my window, bare. It was getting close to winter.
I looked out at the neighborhood. Many kids road by on their bicycles. Laughing and goofing off. Other kids were jumping into leaf piles.
My mom called me down for breakfast. Walking slowly, I inspected the ring. Should I show it to them, or let them just notice it? Show them. I took a big giant breath and ran into the kitchen like a five year old on christmas morning. I also acted like one of those excited little girls showing off their presents. I yelled, "Mommy! Mommy! Lookie what Chris gave me!" I held out my hand for my mom to see. She gasped and grabbed at my hand. Her nose was an inch away from my hand. She peered at my hand as if she had not seen anything like it. She then removed her face from my hand and compared rings with hers. She looked up at me. Her eyes had hurt, excitement, surprisement. "When did this happen?" she asked. Her voice cracked. "Oh mom! Don't cry! It happened last night!! I would have showed you, but I was really tired! You should be happy! Your little girl is getting married!!" She had looked down with her hand over her face letting out short sobs. When I said that I was engaged, her head snapped up. She said, "Has he talked to your father about this?" I sighed. "I don't really know..."
"Has who talked to me about what?" my dad asked walking into the room fully dressed for work. He looked very confused. I sighed once more, held up my hand and pointed to the ring, I said, "Do you know that Chris asked me to marry him?" I blushed a little when I said that. My dads face dropped. His mouth hanging wide open. "Urg..." I grumbled. "Oh my gosh!! It's huge! That young boy of yours bought you that!" so apparently he did know. I laughed, "Yes dad. His name is Chris and I'm in love with him." My mom burst out screaming at my dad, "You knew all about this and you never told me!" she whacked him on the chest. He winced and said, "Ya, he came by yesterday morning and told me. I was frustrated at first but I saw in his eyes that he really does love her." he smiled at me. "Fine, then I get to plan it." my mom said. And with that the conversation ended.
I went to my closet and changed into some booty shorts and a sports bra. I wear that no matter what tempurature it is outside. I grabbed an elastic and pulled my hair up into a pony tail, my bangs hanging in my eyes, and my pony tail trailing down my back. I went downstairs and went straight for the mud room. I grabbed the only shoes there. My brothers old jogging shoes. They were covered in mud. Underneath the mud was a pattern. It was of greens, and browns. He had used them in the army. He had joined the army. I haven't seen him in seven years. He's 5 years older than me. Hebhad sent them home as a reminder of his love and a sign that he was still alive. It brought tears to my eyes. Just thinking of my brother made me sad. I missed him so much. I rubbed my hand over my eyes. I pushed Trever(my brother) out of my mind and ran back through the front door. I was halfway down the porch when my mom yelled, "Close the door!" I grunted and went and slammed the door shut. I ran in the direction I do every morning. To Chris's house. I stayed on the side walk. Construction workers were working in the middle of the street. They whistled as I jogged by. I kept running as I held my hand up and pointed at the ring. There were hoots and cat calls. Even some boos. I laughed and ran faster. I made it to Chris's house thirty minutes later. I hadn't stopped once. I bent down with my hands on my knees trying to catch my breath. Once I did, I went and knocked on the door. His mom answered. "Julie!" I yelled. "Let me see that ring if yours my soon to be daughter in law." I laughed and handed her my hand. "Oh. This ones got good taste." She made me laugh so much. I just loved his mom. "Where is he?" I asked getting my hand back. "In his room. Asleep. Go wake him up. I've already tried." With a laugh I walked up the stairs to his room.
I creaked open the door. On the bed was a sprawled out Chris. He was half covered in sheets. One of his legs out of the sheets and hanging over the edge of his bed. His chest bare. His boxers high on his thigh. He had an eight pack. His legs were also very toned. I giggled and opened the door. I walked in and sat on the bed. I placed my hand on his cheek. "Sweety, time to get up." I said in a motherly tone. Was this gonna be me getting my children up? I shivered and placed that thought in the back of my mind. He moved under my touch. He opened his eyes and smiled. I placed my lips on his and just pecked. I then whispered in his ear, "Good morning fiancé. Time to get up! I love you." I squished my hand underneath his back and lifted him up. I failed letting him fall back onto the bed. He laughed as I joined in. He sat up and just slouched. I poked his sides, making him sit up straight. He is very ticklish. He said, "O so you want to play that game do you!" I'm very ticklish to. He noticed what I was wearing. And laughed. "Are you trying to make a statement to the rest of the men in the world?" He was looking at my sports bra. "Hey! None of that!" I pulled his chin up so was looking into my EYES. "Sorry! Sorry! My bad! You know how tempting you are!" he said holding up his hands in an inocent matter. I placed my hands on his, getting distracted. I was measuring our hand sizes. He intertwined our fingers. I looked up into his eyes. My heart melted. "I love you." the words escaped my lips before I could even think. "I love you too" he answered. We shared a short kiss. "Well, let's get you dressed." I jumped up out of his lap and ran to his closet and pulled open the doors. I dug in the drawers until I found some basketball shorts and a fitted tank top. I threw the clothing at his confused face. It hit his face. He jumped up from the bed and tackled me to the ground. He was on top of me holding my wrists in place. "Let go!" I laughed/yelled. "Answer one question." "Fine.." I huffed in frustration. He never asked it. He just got off of me, and slipped the tank and shorts on. "Whats the question!" I asked still laying on the floor, watching him. "Nevermind." he said. "Come on! Please!" I begged. "No." he answered. He would not say anything more on the subject. I knew that for a fact. I left it be. He walked over to me and pulled me to my feet.
I wanted him to smile, so I poked him in the stomach and ran out the door, down two flights of stairs and out the front door. He soon came running after me, down the long drive and to the side walk. When he reached me, my feet left the pavement. He was holding my sides and lifting me up in the air. I laughed, imitating a plane.
After a while of flying, he put me down and we just jogged around the neighborhood. We past many other couples jogging. Other kids, riding their bikes. We went in a huge circle, looping all the way to my house. When we got to my house, we went inside and got glasses of water. Already, my parents at work. One minute I was siping water, the next, I was being carried up to my bedroom. Chris placed me on the bed. He started kissing me. I stopped him before he could get too carried away. I said, "Lets not get too carried away." I said with a laugh. He answered, "Fine...." I finished the conversation with a kiss on the lips. And getting up off the bed to go get ready for the day. Before I walked into the bathroom with an armfull of clothes, Chris said, "I'll pick you up around one. So be ready." he gave me one last kiss on the cheek and a tight hug and left me standing their sighing. I get to be with him forever. He respects me for what I wish and that makes me happy. I really appreciate it. I do love him. With that, I smiled one last time and closed the bathroom door. The last thought I thought was, "I sure am glad this isn't a Romeo and Juliet story. That sure would suck."
