Munna wasn't actually first introduced in Gen 5. In red and blue, a women right outside of rock tunnel mentioned Munna. She explained that she dreamed of a chunky pink Pokemon with a flower pattern. Munna is basically a lost gen 1 Pokemon, or Nintendo had it in mind before it actually appeared in the Unova region.
