In Pokemon Red and Blue, there was a rumor that when you battle Blue you kill his Ratticate.

"YOU MURDERER!" Blue yells at you for killing his Pokemon.

In Lavender Town you meet him again at the tower where you put your dead Pokemon to rest. He says to you, "do you know what its like to have a Pokemon die.

I think this is pretty sad :(
