The Meeting

The day was young and the heat from the sun was very intense on Danny's soft skin he was a pampered child but growing up he had his share of rebellious out bursts that led him to do silly things, which led to the scar on his left shoulder in the shape of a heart, he had sneaked out one night to his best friend Jake's home to celebrate his birthday but when he got there it was an outrageously wild party and he woke up the next morning in Jake's older sister Denise bedroom with a burning sensation on his shoulder he smiled to himself at the memory has he rubbed his shoulder.

Now everyone he knew from back then were either married or engaged which brings us back to his current situation; Danny was on his way to Jake's wedding in Mexico and his corvette had ran out of gas about a mile away from Jake's and he decided to take the heat and walk up the dusty trail to the beach house.

On his arrival he could hear the music and chatter in the back yard on the open beach "Hey something smells good back here!!! Somebody learned to grill." He said with a smile on his face walking up to Jake with open arms.

"Danny, where have you been man I figured you'd get here sooner, I missed you man."

"I missed you too buddy, how are you? One minute you're asking me for advice on a girl you met and then a few months later bam!! I get a message on my phone saying that you're getting married."

" Yea time flies man I finally got it right, I'm not letting this one go at all; she's mine so don't go getting any idea's okay buddy because I know you." Said Jake hugging him back as Cassie makes her way out and greets the duo.

"So this is the famous best man? Hi how are you I didn't hear your car pull up."

"Actually my car ran out of gas so I walked up here."

"What! You're kidding me how far did you have to walk man?" Jake said with his arm on Danny's shoulder leading him towards the grill. "Not very far but the heat is intense I'm parched."

"Here have a beer and reboot yourself the steaks are on the grill it'll be ready in a few; mingle some of the guys are on the beach chilling, have fun it's going to be a long day I can tell." Jake said with a smirk on his face.

The old gang was back together; all the wives and their friends were talking while the kids were running in the sand on the beach and the guys were talking about the good old days.

It was a sight that warmed Danny's heart he always thought that he would have a family one day but gave up on that dream after he walked in on his father and his fiancé in her office one night that he came to surprise her.

It was the first time he had been in love and he vowed to himself that it would be the last.

He rebelled by leaving his father's company and starting his own business something he always thought of doing but joined his father's company instead to make him happy. He was happy that his mother was dead because finding this out would have surely killed her.

He shook the thought from his mind and paid attention to the view before him and right then he saw something beautiful, so natural his breathing suddenly slowed looking at the woman before him as a light seemed to be emanating from her, his mind said hello as she passed him but his mouth said nothing. His tongue felt heavy, his feet became stiff and he could no longer move he was suddenly immobile and he realized for the first time after many years of dating starlets and models who only loved him for his money and popularity that he still had a heart that allowed him to feel, but what he was experiencing at this moment felt peculiar in so many ways.

Usually attractive women fell short of words around him it intrigued him in a way, Cassie suddenly came up to him and instantly noticed Danny's gravitational pull towards Sabra.
