The days went by so quickly and before you knew it was Saturday morning and Sabra was now in the fourth store when Jane had found her perfect dress.
Sabra had found hers in the second store along with the perfect shoes and now that Jane was satisfied they could have lunch together then go back to the apartment and choose an outfit for Sabra’s date with Danny.
“I think that mini black dress with the one side strap would be perfect.” “Really I don’t think so what about if I wore my pink pumps and my blue baby doll dress?”
“Yeah are you trying to scare him away my god I think you’re losing your fashion sense, but I can’t blame you it’s been a long time since you’ve been on a date.” Jane said remembering the effect that Jacob’s death had, had on Sabra.
“Yeah I didn’t even want to at a point in time, but I’ve come to realize that life goes on and that’s what I’m doing I’m moving on with my life.” And with that said she realized that she did not feel guilty about moving on and she took a breath of relief.
“I just got an idea.” Sabra ran back in to her closet and four minutes later returned with a stunning red cupped breast sleeveless long silk dress and a pair of black and red Louie Viton pumps.
“What do you think?” “You look amazing all you need are the accessories and you’re complete. What about that ruby set Jacob gave you has a Christmas gift?” she asked questioningly hoping that Sabra would not feel guilty by using them on her first night out with Danny. “You’re right thanks for the help Jane I don’t think I would have made it this far if it wasn’t for you.”
Then tears began to weld up in her eyes but she blinked them away. “Please don’t cry Sabra you’re going to make me smear your make up.” Then she went over and hugged her tight. “Best friends forever remember that okay.”
The clock had stroke seven directly when Danny picked Sabra up she had given him directions to her apartment earlier that day, when he wrapped at the door she was so nervous she had nearly tripped over the rug “Hi.” She said in a soft voice feeling a sudden rush of heat to her face. “Hi you look amazing, these are for you.”
Danny couldn’t help but allow his eyes to scan Sabra’s body and how well fitted the dress was. “Pink lilies how did you know I love them?” “Let’s just say I had a hunch are you ready?” “Ready has I’ll ever be.” “Great then let’s go.” When they got to the restaurant Sabra couldn’t help but stare it was so beautiful she had never been to or heard of this place before. Amour was a famous and well known by the wealthy, French restaurant ran by a good friend of Danny.
“Mr. Vermont it’s good to see you again your table is this way please follow me.” “This place is amazing I’ve never seen or heard of it before but I’m not surprised I hardly get out that much.” Oh sabra did you have to say that now he probably thinks you’re a stiff she thought biting her lower lip. “Sometimes home is the best place to be.” He said smiling at her it was like her could read her mind and he always knew exactly what to say.
“This restaurant belongs to an old friend of mine I’m glad you like it.” He said has he looked deep into her eyes it was something he found himself doing quite often when he was around Sabra her eyes were like emeralds and he got lost in them every time he looked into them. “Sir, Madame here are your menu’s can I interest you in something to drink?” the waiter was sharply dressed and Sabra couldn’t help but notice. “Of course champagne would be just fine thank you.”
Danny said focusing again looking at Sabra and how she cautiously skimmed through the menu. “Find anything you might be interested in trying?” “There are so many things to choose from.” The waiter returned and served the champagne the asked if they were ready to order “Yes I’ll have the steak and mushrooms.” “And for the lady?” “I’ll have the pasta with Alf redo sauce thank you.” “I love a woman with a healthy appetite.” He said with a cunning smile. “Well it’s going to take more than a garden salad to satisfy me.” She said laughing.
They ate and spoke for hours about themselves comparing the silly things they did in life and how crazy they were to have done it, the night was coming to an end when they left the restaurant and Danny took her to a look out over the city.
They were sitting in the car when Danny turned on the radio and Celine Dion’s song ‘Walls’ came on and Sabra began singing Danny looked across to her and says “your voice is beautiful.” “Thank you I love this song.” “I love the story behind the song.”
Danny said smiling wickedly and Sabra began to laugh. “I do too.” Then they drove along deep in conversation but when they got to the apartment there was suddenly silence she turned to him and said goodnight then before she could say her second words his lips took hers taking her breath away with a deep and long sensual kiss that caused her to lose herself and fall into him the sound of her keys hitting the floor brought her senses back and she pulled away from his grip his hands were already beginning to explore her body she was still close enough to feel his erection then she looked him in the eyes and said “Goodnight again.”
Then she quickly picked up her keys and opened the door closing it immediately after she entered then Danny whispered goodnight against the door and began to walk away hating himself for pushing too hard but yet he did not regret the feel of her lips and her tongue exploring his.
Inside Sabra was braced against the door crazy thoughts running through her mind then eventually she said “What the hell.” And opened the door has if she expected him to still be standing there she quickly ran to the steps but then she heard the car drive away and knew she was too late.
“Shit, shit, shit god Sabra when was the last time you got a little and the first opportunity comes up and you let it slip away, now how exactly are you going to cool yourself off?” she stomped to her room then plunged into bed then suddenly the phone began to ring and she fell startled by the sound then realizing it was the phone. “Hello?” she said grabbing the phone breathless. “I hope I haven’t ruined my chances of seeing you again. I’m sorry if I pushed too hard.”
Danny said in a coarse voice “No actually I’m glad you did I ran out looking for you but you were gone.” Shit he thought in his mind. “I should have waited.” “Yes but it’s not your fault I don’t know why I hesitated I’m sorry but hey maybe it’s for the best.” She said wishing she could believe the words coming out of her mouth. “Maybe you’re right.”
They stayed on the phone for hours then at three in the morning said their goodbyes.
Danny had called from the phone in his car but when he got home instead of calling back he sat in his car throughout their conversation not wanting to miss a second of hearing her voice Sabra had a powerful effect on him and it was beginning to affect the control he had over himself, she haunted his dreams a night and lingered in his mind during the day if he didn’t have her soon he was going to lose his mind.
That day Sabra gave Jane all the details and she spent the rest of her free time practicing with the girls hoping that they can get every step right in time for the wedding, Danny called her regularly but she would keep the conversation short and he was beginning to wondered why, she didn’t tell him about the surprise she had planned for Jane because she had wanted to surprise him has well.
