Snakes come with Venom

When Sabra woke that night Danny was still asleep and she stared at him just asking herself how she got so lucky “I will never understand how you came to love me.” She whispered in the dark and he so lovingly responded “I ask myself that question everyday”

“You’re awake?” she said embarrassed that he heard her say that but did not regret “We have plans tonight.” “Really I wasn’t aware we made any.” “We didn’t I did.” “I see, and exactly where are we heading?” “Out for dinner I’ll race you to the bath.”

He said already on his feet. “You cheater!” She said running nude to the bathroom, they took a bath together managing not to have sex but still allowing their hands to explore each other passion never ceased between them their love was strong and hopeful and they were lucky to have ever found each other. When they were both dressed Sabra in an olive green silk dress and her hair clipped up with matching jewelry that enhanced the colour in her eyes and Danny a blue shirt and a silver grey pants he then escorted her to the car and drove to a beautiful restaurant near the open ocean the waiter escorted them to the terrace where they sat and dined together overlooking the ocean

“Sabra you have made me the happiest man in the world your love has changed me somehow made me a better man and I thank you for that I love you Sabra.” “I love you too Danny.”

The night air was filled with soft music and has they ate together by moonlight they felt lucky to have found each other. When the night was over Danny held sabra’s hand in his and led her towards the door then suddenly a voice was heard over the music and Danny’s heart felt a deep tug that sent his nerves rippling

“Danny Vermont I never thought I would ever find you here again.” Sabra saw Danny’s jaw tighten the way it did when one of his business deals weren’t going according to plan, turned around her hand still in his to be greeted by the temptress that was once his now his fathers 

“Valerie.” The sound of her name from his lips sounded like a rock sinking to the bottom of the sea heavy and lifeless “How long has it been since we last saw each other, don’t answer that.” She spoke lightly which seemed to irritate him more, how dare she stand there making conversation with him after what she had done after she took advantage of his heart and his money then sleep with his father causing them the little left of their father son relationship.

“Well don’t just stand there and say nothing introduce me to your friend?” She out stretched her long elegant hand towards Sabra but just has she was about to do the same Danny stopped her “Come on Danny don’t tell me you still hate me after all this time let’s move on and let bygones be bygones.”  “Goodbye Valerie.”

He then turned and walked out the doors keeping a firm grip on Sabra’s hand. “You’re hurting me.” Sabra said softly trying to keep up with Danny’s pace but anger deafened him until finally Sabra ripped her hand away from his and stood stock still looking puzzled has to who this woman was to have such an effect on him.

“I’m sorry but can we please go I’ll explain when we get home.” He said opening the passenger door of the car. She slipped in shooting him a questioning look has he closed the door behind her. From the moment they entered the front door Sabra swung around causing her hair to fly loosely has the pin flung to the floor in a clatter “Who was she Danny?” they hadn’t exchange words in the car on their way home and now Sabra wanted answers.

Danny closed the door and leaned against it looking into Sabra’s eyes seeing the anger in them he thought for a second then open his mouth to speak but no words came out Sabra stood there looking at him puzzled who was this woman that caused him to suddenly turn dumb “Well answer me!” she said to him “She was my fiancé.”

The words sent a jolt through Sabra’s entire body Danny had never mentioned having a fiancé before she knew there were other women but she never thought any of them came has close has she did until now that is “What?” those were the only words she could have managed to say. “I never mentioned Valerie because I did not want to bring up the past she’s not a part of my life anymore and that’s all that matters I’m sorry I kept this from you amour can you forgive me?” she stood there looking at him has he slowly walked towards her

“I told you about Jacob I wanted you to know about all the important aspects of my life but you couldn’t manage to do the same why is that?” “I was hurting…” “Hurting!” she cut him off before he could finish “Don’t you think I felt hurt having to bring back up the memories of my dead husband Danny I can’t believe you would say that to me it’s not an excuse to keep such an important part of your life away from me we promised to be open to each other, a promise Danny I thought you understood that I guess I was wrong.”

She said turning to walk up the steps but her hand had been caught in Danny’s he turned her around to face him “I’m sorry that I hurt you I was selfish but I will tell you about Valerie please sit down.” She could never resist doing what he asked especially when he was this close his scent weakened her body they sat down on the steps and he began to explain what had happened on that terrible night the night he had his heart broken. When he was finished telling his story Sabra found herself feeling sorry for him and that night she made love to him then wrapped her arms around him until they both feel asleep.

The next morning Sabra woke up to the sunshine on her face and an empty space beside her she immediately sat up her eyes searching the room for Danny then suddenly there he was out on the terrace sitting on the edge towel wrapped around his waist looking at the view before him she got up with the sheet wrapped around her flowing behind like a train has she made her way towards him “Good morning you’re up early.” “I’ve been thinking I’ve kept that part my past a secret for so long now it’s finally caught up with me.”

“Was your father there last night?” “No he wasn’t and I’m content that he wasn’t, we should get ready the plane should be here in three hours.” “Wait a minute Danny we just got here I’m not going to leave, you can’t keep running away like this eventually your past catches up with you it’s always better to deal with these things head on then move on with your life.” Just has Danny was about to speak a knock was heard coming from the front door “That can’t be the chauffeur it’s too early stay here.” Danny pulled on a pair of jeans and headed for the door but Sabra pulled on a spaghetti strap sun dress and sneaked down the steps behind Danny, when he opened the door to his amusement there stood the heartbreaker

“Valerie, what are you doing here?” “Aren’t you going to ask me in?” just has he was about to tell her off a soft hand touched his shoulder, he look around to find Sabra “Come in, please.” Danny give Sabra a hardened look but she simply smiled and his expression melted away has he walked away and into the living room where he sat patiently awaiting a reason for the snake’s presence. Sabra led her to a chair then she sat beside Danny holding unto his hand

“The only reason I’m here Danny is because your father is dead he died of a heart attack last night in his office back home I’m sorry you know he believes in the Jewish custom so he will be buried within twenty four hours I’m flying back home to take care of the arrangements, I’m aware of where your mother was buried so I’ll have him buried next to her.”

The entire time Valerie was talking Danny felt pain in his heart he couldn’t believe it his father was dead, he had hated him for what he did but in his heart he knew that he still loved him. Sabra felt hurt she could see that the news had affected Danny even if he wouldn’t admit it she could see it written all over his face. “The reading of the will is in three days you will be needed there.”

Valerie continued then she stood up and headed for the door Sabra showed her out then turned back to go to Danny but he was already heading up the stairs when Sabra got upstairs she heard the shower she quickly slipped out of her dress and entered the shower with him he had his two hands pressed firm against the wall and his head bent while the water ran down his broad shoulders unto his back and down to his narrow waist his eyes were closed and Sabra knew what he was feeling she wrapped her hands around him and what happened next surprised her Danny began crying she always knew he had a soft side but this was more than she expected. Sabra turned him towards her then held him close, he held unto her weeping feeling all the pain he had bundled up inside of him drain away from him like the water off his skin.
