After driving for about fifteen minutes we arrived at a small restaurant in town called Terr's Steak House, owned by the Terr couple who were in their sixties. The ride there was silent but I could feel Devon's gaze on me every few seconds. I knew he wanted to say something but I didn't know what we could talk about after Terrance's weird behaviour and my outburst.

I never meant for this situation to happen. I mean now all of a sudden it seemed that my brother and his friends were paying me attention when all I had been was invisible. But isn't this what I wanted, for my brother to notice me instead of being his sister who he hates? And since when did he care about who I go out with? He never has before.

The awkwardness in the car was suffocating, making me just dread the date that followed now. Devon parked the car and got out, walking around and coming to open my door. I smiled at the gesture and took his arm that he held out for me muttering a small thank you.

We walked in and a waiter who was a friend of Terrance's, John showed us to a small two seat table in the far corner on the left but not before giving me a shocked look which turned in to a glare once he knew who I was. John's glares stopped from one look Devon sent him though so that made me relax a bit.

Kids these days I thought.

There were two exit points, one through the kitchen next to the toilets and through the front door, the main entrance. It was another automatic action I acquired with my job, always know your escape routes. It was quite empty besides three couples; the Harold's who were in their thirties with four kids, the Robertson's who were also in their late thirties early forties who were parents of twin brother's that went to school with me, and then there was Mr Trevor Crosson the high school gym teacher with Miss Evelyn Grace who worked for the local newspaper agency.

Everyone in town knew that they'd end up married and Miss Grace would still carry on cheating on him with her boss Frank Martin who was married to Jenna Martin that owned the local boutique with a teen who was the ever miss perfect Tessa Martin. I could feel their stares on my back but I ignored them, not giving them the satisfaction of making me feel uncomfortable.

Soft violin music flowed through the restaurant with the smell of grilled steak. Devon pulled out my chair and pushed it in as I sat down, ''Thank you.'' I said smiling at him. After he sat down we just looked at each other and then I awkwardly looked around.

''So how's your mom?'' He asked after a bit of silence. Wow great conversation starter.

''Um she's OK, I mean she works a lot but it's her job you know?'' I said, while playing with the salt and pepper shakers.

Devon the placed his hands stopping my hands from moving, ''You're nervous! Look if this is about you and your brother, we'll figure it out. I don't want you choosing between me and him. We don't have to do this if you don't want to I mean.'' He said looking serious at me. His lips in a grim firm line. I did not like that look. Who cares if I go out, it defiantly has nothing to do with Terrance.

''No I'm fine with going out with you I'm just a bit surprised at him. I never knew that the first time I go out with a guy he would throw a huge fit, I mean why does he care? He never did before and now that I want to have a social life he wants to have a say in it? Who does he think he is? Typical Guys! They don't want you one minute and then they do the next!'' I ranted to him. I huffed loudly, slouching back in my chair with an annoyed look on my face.

Devon's eyes held amusement before he gave out a deep laugh, his chest rumbling showing his muscles through his shirt. Man that is hot. I quickly snapped my gaze to his face before he could see me ogling me. That would seriously be embarrassing.
