Chapter One
Megan's POV
I looked out the window, to see darkness take over the atmosphere. The leaves on the trees danced with the wind and the street signs swayed back and forth. It was August, and the summer storm hit the city of Stratford once again. The rain started to pour from the sky in an instant, slowing trailing down the glass window. I was amused by it, since I had nothing better to do. I heard a car door slam, which made me jump a few inches off my couch. I shook my head and smiled to myself. It's only my older brother, Cameron Reid. My smile faded when he entered soaking wet as he looked at me with a frown. He kicked off his shoes and simply turned away from me, as we walked towards the kitchen. Being the curious, nosy person I am, I followed him.
I watched him as he took a new bottle of beer out of the fridge and sat down on the stool. Opening the bottle, he chugged it down. Cameron didn't acknowledge my presence. Something was obviously wrong. I stood in front of him the counter to face him. He looked, tired. I noticed heavy bags under his red eyes; his sharp, pale face was emotionless.
"What's wrong with you?" I asked curiously.
"What's wrong with me? I should be asking you that, Megan." He sneered. He took another sip of his beer and violently slammed it down on the counter, causing it to shatter. The excess liquid spread quickly and the little bits of glass scattered everywhere. I would clean it up, but I really wanted to know what was wrong. I opened my mouth to speak but he stood up and leaned forward towards me.
"I trained you so hard, - so well to be an undercover cop and you don't do shit! That's what's wrong!" He finally said.
I was quiet for that moment, not knowing how to respond to his reaction. I didn't want him to flip a table or anything. I gathered the right words into my mind. Cameron waited for my response.
"I know Cam! You trained me like a professional and I really appreciate it. It's just that, I don't want to be an undercover cop. You kind of forced me to do it..." I answered him.
He pinched the bridge of his nose, shaking his head in frustration. He looked back up at me and slowly walked towards me. He looked down at me, towering my whole figure. His dark, demanding eyes stared into mine. I inhaled, and then exhaled, trying to stay calm and not look frightened. I mean, who is ever frightened by their older sibling?
"I did it for your protection. You know that there's tons of gangs out there, doing crime. Our job is to catch them! You're a teenage girl and that is what teenage boys want! Reel them in, collect information, and then BAM! They're busted! Think of all the money we can get from this."
"You're telling me that this is for my protection, but I have to fucking risk my life, and let their disgusting hands all over me?! Just for the information?" I argued back.
This set Cameron off. I couldn't help myself, I needed to defend myself. I already knew, he was using me for money, the reputation he always wanted.
"We had this talk already and I am definitely not having this again. Just go out for once, and do your fucking job. Actually, go out now!" He demanded.
"It's storming out there."
"That is why there is such thing as a car. Go make yourself look approachable and attract those gang guys. Time is money and money is time."
I didn't feel like arguing with him. I nodded and started to walk out of the kitchen, but then stopped. Looking back at him, I pointed over to the shattered glass.
"While I'm gone, clean that up, would you?"

I lied. I wasn't going out to do "my job."I decided to once again, go to the bar and let loose. This consist of my nightly routine. This for me is a getaway from my demanding, irritable brother. He never finds out about these nightly outings and never will. I went upstairs to my room and quickly got ready, looking like I was about to do my job to fool my brother.

I parked my car in front of the bar. I pulled my jacket hood over my head to protect me from the rain, which was still pouring like crazy. Opening the car door, I ran towards the entrance and making it in without getting wet. I slid my jacket off of my and held it as I made my way over to the stools.
"What may I get you tonight?" The bartended asked me.
"A few shots." I answered back.
He smiled, getting the drinks ready and slid them over to me. I handed him the money and smiled.
"Thanks." I said. Without waiting, I drank all of the shots one after the other and I instantly felt better.
"I'll get the bombs ready by next week. You guys will get the weapons. "
Out of all the people talking in the bar, I heard his deep voice. I turned beside me to find four guys, huddled up together, drinking and talking about-something. I couldn't see any of their faces so I decided to keep in listening.
"Right, McCann. I'll get the shot guns from Lucas, tomorrow night. Make sure you have enough bomb supplies in the basement." Another voice said.
Then I realized the name McCann. There was only one particular person who owns that last name. It was Jason McCann, and his gang. McCann's gang is one of the most powerful gangs in Stratford, considering that all of the members are well experienced and intelligent.
I didn't come here to do my job, but I found myself doing it anyways.
