The next morning came and went without Rob stirring for a good few hours after the sun had risen. And even when he did, it wasn't without much effort from the knight. He spent a good long while calling to Rob to wake up. It frustrated the knight that he lacked a body. If he did have his own body, he would have already gone to find this Library that the mortal had mentioned.
"Mortal! Mortal! You must wake! We have to go!" Rob lifted his head and looked around, confused as to who was talking. Only after a moment did he remember what had happened yesterday. He looked over to the pendant in which the soul of the knight now lived.
"Calm down. Give me a minute." Rob said, swinging himself off the bed. He shakily stood up and walked over to the window covers which he quickly removed. Outside, a thick mist had settled over the coastal area. Rob could hardly see a few meters away from the house. He wondered if this was some sort of bad omen. Things like that had started to sound possible in light of everything that had been happening. He turned around and went to pick the pendant off the table next to his bed where he'd left it the night before. He quickly put it on and dressed before heading downstairs.
"Quickly, let us go. We must not waste a moment longer." The pendant called. Rob sighed exasperatedly.
"Just a minute. You might not need to eat, but I do." He said, heading to the kitchen. He ate as quickly as he could, partly because he understood the importance of what they were doing, but mainly because the knight wouldn't stop telling him to hurry up which got increasingly annoying. As Rob got up to go the knight called out again.
"Wait, don't forget to take the sword." He said.
"Why? I won't need it." Rob replied, confused.
"In this fog...Well, that creature could get you. You might need it to defend yourself." He explained. Rob shrugged then picked up the sword and took it with him.
Finally they set out. Rob had brought a torch in the hope it might cut through the fog some what. However, it did little to help him find his way. The route he was taking did stay on roads the whole way and so there was little chance of getting lost. It was an hour long walk to the library in Middleton. He decided not to bother stopping for a paper that morning; it wasn't like he ever found anything useful in them. As he walked, the knight was very quiet. It seemed to Rob like he was considering things. He supposed there wasn't a lot else you could do when you were trapped like he was.
Rob went into the library with less caution than he had the day before. Inside, the librarian was stool on a small stool stacking the top shelves with books. She looked around as the door shut behind Rob and smiled.
"It's good to see you back." She said happily, finishing stacking the books. She got down from her stool and walked over to the desk. She looked a little confused at the sword in his hand. Rob realised she was looking at it and quickly lent it on the desk with a weak smile.
"Sorry about that. It's a long story." He explained. The librarian shrugged then placed her hands on the desk and smiled up at Rob. "So what can I do for you today?" She asked, eager to have something to do.
"Well, I'm here for more books on mythology. This time I'm looking for something to do with magic and capturing people's souls. Do you know of anything like that?" Rob asked, doubting she would know of like that. It was an odd topic for sure. The librarian nodded slowly as he spoke then shook her head. "I don't know of anything that specific." She said, her eyes looking away in thought. "But, if you look, there should be some." Suddenly her eyes lit up. "Oh wait, I have this." She said, turning to face the computer monitor that was sat on the desk. She pushed aside a few books to reveal a similarly ancient looking keyboard. She tapped on a few keys and wiped some dust off the screen. She looked up at Rob with a small smile. "This thing's been here longer than I have." She explained. "If it still works, it should have the record of all the books here. The only new ones we've gotten have been those awful teen fiction novels and I'm sure they are not what you're looking for." Rob chuckled a little at her statement.
