Just over an hour later and they were standing on the base of The Dragon's Tail. Amanda was now dressed in hardy looking trousers, a pair of walking boots, and a water proof. She surveyed the beach below them.
"So we're looking for a cave down at the tip of The Tail?" She confirmed as she began to walk down the narrow path that led down to the beach. She was very careful on the path as there were strong winds at the moment.
"Well his grave was right at the end. So I would assume so, yes." Rob said, looking out over the sea. The waves were rough and he hoped that Amanda could safely make it along the rocks at the base of the peninsula. The walk took just over an hour. It would have been quicker but with the wind, the waves, and the slippery rocks, Amanda had to move slower to be safe. As they reached the end of the cliff face, they found a small opening in the cliff.
"I guess this is it..." Amanda muttered as she slowly made her way inside. She proceeded down a small stone corridor that slowly went down and had had steps carved into it. It seemed to go down for a long way before they came out into the cave that Merek had spoke of. It was a colossal place, and spherical in shape, though, you couldn't get to most of it. From the entrance there was a long stone bridge that led to a round platform that seem to be unconnected to the bottom of the cave. Another bridge was located on the other side and seemed to lead to a stone door. In the center of the platform there was a small circle that was slightly raised up from it's surroundings. The plinth Merek had mentioned was on the left hand side of the platform. It was about a meter high and was very plain. It had no carvings on it or anything of that nature. On the other side was a stone altar. This did have some carvings on it that depicted battles between dragons and humans. The whole chamber was lit by a single stream of light that came from a small hole in the ceiling. Amanda walked along the bridge to the center, looking around in amazement. She looked down briefly, then quickly wished she hadn't.
"Well...This is...Impressive." Said Rob with a small chuckle. "I'm impressed people managed to build this. And also impressed they could fit it in down here." He said, unsure where exactly they were in relation to the the rest of The Tail.
"It's almost unbelievable to think they built this. But then, after what we've seen today, it's not quite so hard to believe." She said, still looking around the chamber.
As they reached the platform in the middle of the chamber, Amanda pulled off the pendant and placed it on the plinth.
"This is what he said to do right? Just put you on here and you should be freed?" She confirmed, hoping this would work.
"That is what Merek said to do. I only hope he's right." Rob said. He was definitely a bit nervous. He wasn't sure that this would work. Amanda stood back from the plinth and waited for a moment. Nothing happened. Amanda let out a sigh. Then the chamber started to shake. The shaking continued for a few seconds. As it stopped, a bright light came from the plinth. She looked away and tried to cover her eyes with her arm. When she was sure the light had faded away she looked back up to see if it had worked. The plinth had cracked in half and the two halves were slowly leaning away from each other. The pendant was nowhere to be seen, but in front of the plinth stood Rob. He was dressed in his walking gear and was blinking a bit, adjusting to the light levels. Rob stood in shock for a moment before speaking.
"Well...That is not an experience I want to go through again." He said with a small chuckle.
"Why? Was in painful or something?"
"No it was more like...My whole body was just numb. It's weird being a physical being again. I kind of...Oh no, I think my legs are going." He said before collapsing forwards. Amanda managed to grab the scruff of his neck just before his face hit the floor. She then slowly lowered him on to the ground.
