Our room is flooded with darkness and my stomach rumbles. Too lazy to get up, I place my hand on Cassius's chest and shake him.
"Eliza?" He grumbles, shifting around.
"I'm hungry."
Cassius gets up wordlessly and heads out to get me food from the kitchen. His bare back shines from the moonlight and I try to get comfortable.
It's been a month and my bump is not small anymore. It's not the size of a beach ball but it's getting there. The door opens and Cassius stumbles in.
I flick on the lamp light and he sets a bowl of fruit and toast at the foot of the bed. My mouth waters and I pop a grape in my mouth. "Thank you."
Cassius lays down and watches me. His eyes are heavy with sleep and I can't help for feeling bad that I made him get up.
It just wears me out when I go up and down the stairs. I rest my hand on my stomach. I haven't felt the baby kick yet, and I try not to get paranoid.
I have three more months to go. My boobs ache and I'm starting to have back pains. But it's worth it.
Speaking of boobs, they seem to have ballooned. They're not so small anymore and it's pretty nice.
And it seems like I get hornet easier. Like right now I have to focus on a little speck on the wall instead of Cassius bare-chested next to me.
He flops over on his stomach and I finish the last of my fruit and toast. Setting the dishes on the nightstand I flick off the light and move around to get comfortable.
I can't sleep on my stanch anymore, and that's my most comfortable position. Cassius shuffles around and his hand finds my waist and tugs me against him.
Nuzzled into his neck his hand slips up my nightdress and rests on my bare stomach.
Any chance he gets his hands are on my bump. During dinner, riding in a carriage, sleeping. I've pretty much gotten used to it now.
Then I feel something flutter in my stomach. I jump, startled. Cassius feels it too and he jerks up and flicks on the light.
His eyes are wide and he pulls up my night gown. I feel it again but a little harder. Both his hands fly to cup my bump and a smile lights up his features.
His smile is contagious and I smile like an idiot. I place my hand next to Cassius's and I feel the pup flutter again. "Cassius, the baby's moving!"
He brings his head down to place his ear against my swollen stomach. The feeling is so foreign and it becomes suddenly real for me. I'm going to have a pup. A little person with ears, eyes, and feet.
My eyes water and one tear slips down my face. "This is so cool." He says. I nod my head.
"It'll start kicking later on, but I've never felt the pup move till now." My head falls back against the pillow and I enjoy the feel of Cassius's hands on me.
My eyelids close and I start to fall asleep. Not before I hear Cassius whispering. I can't make out what he's saying but it fills me with warmth and I sleep.
~*~*~*~*~*
Cassius finally lets me out of the room. He escorts me to the pack cafeteria to have breakfast and excitement fills me. The last time I dined with the pack was just before my Heat.
I lace my fingers through his and I hear voices through the double doors. "If you don't feel comfortable or you want to leave, just come over and tell me."
He pulls open the doors and I walk through. In a pack, the females sit separately from the males mated or not. A few faces I recognize and the females wave me over wildly.
