Four.
Four days later, I was settling in well with my course, yet depressed by the plain decor of my apartment. Melissa had visited yesterday to help with an assignment, and demanded I let her help me shop for furnishings. So here we were, in the car, on our way to a furniture store.
'So, have you bumped into any cute boys since you've moved to Sydney?' I stared at Melissa in shock as she waggled her eyebrows cheekily; surely it was just a coincidence that she'd used the term 'bumped into'...
She returned her gaze to the road as I went from shaking my head to nodding it.
'Uh, I think so. Well, we're just friends, so I mean-'
'Hmm, that's what they all say,' Mel said disbelievingly, 'Who is we?'
'Does the name 5 Seconds of Summer mean anything to you?' I asked.
'Ooh, yes. Two of them go to Uni with us, right?' I nodded, 'Interior design and muso guys, can you get more arty?'
I laughed as we pulled into the car park, and unbuckled my seatbelt. 'Oh, shush you. Lets go shopping!'
Melissa and I went crazy in the furniture place, picking cushions, lamp shades, and chairs that coordinated and looked great together. I pulled out a notebook that I'd done a sketch on of what I'd like my room to be like. Helps to be studying this stuff when it comes to doing your own interior.
We managed to find a light-wood bed that was perfect for my design, and a lime green and blue duvet cover to match items within the flat. A grey rug and a light-wood dresser to go in the room too, and we were finished.
'You are so having a house warming party tonight!' Mel gushed as I paid for the truck to bring my bed, couch and chairs to my flat.
'Surprisingly, I agree to that idea,' I chuckled, 'Good excuse for some beers and loud music, anyway.'
'Exactly! See, I'm not all bad ideas!' she winked, hopping into her car and blasting All Time Low at full-volume.
After the furniture truck arrived at my flat, the men carried my things to the places I wanted them. I thanked them before they left and Melissa and I put all the other smaller items in different arrangements until we were fully satisfied with the place. Mel sent out a text inviting all twenty of the people in our Interior Design course to mine for tonight, despite my argument that the apartment was far too small to fit that many people. I invited Calum and Ashton to the party too, along with Luke and Mike, who were allowed to bring a friend from school.
8pm came by quicker than we thought, and right on the hour, Calum burst through the door, several boxes of beers almost falling from his grip.
'I brought the party with me!' He exclaimed, sending a disgusted look towards the three bottles of wine I'd bought. 'You seriously only have these?' He pushed the wines to the side to make room for his masses of beer, then searching my cupboards and pulling out a bottle of vodka.
'Now that is more like it!' Mel cheered as Calum held up the vodka with a grin. I sighed; that was expensive stuff that I'd been saving for a special occasion. Oh well, no time like the present.
Soon enough, the place was buzzing with the people from Interior Design class, and Michael had arrived with some huge speakers and a 'really really cool' playlist. Mel and I had downed a couple beers, and were dancing and singing like idiots to the music; acting more drunk than those who actually were.
Through the crowd in my lounge, I saw Ashton enter the room, with his arm slung around Luke.
'Beth!' They called, both waving at me as they came over, Ashton throwing his other arm around my shoulder. 'Lets partaaaay!'
A couple hours later, and Mike and Cal had consumed a few too many shots. Ashton, and I had probably had the least to drink out of everyone, but I was a lightweight so I still felt tipsy. I grabbed Ashton's arm and pulled him towards the vodka bottle that was now nearly empty; if anyone was gonna finish it, it'd be me. 'Come,' I instructed, leading Ash to a quiet corner of the kitchen. I slid down the wall, sitting on the cool, refreshing tile. Ashton followed suit, taking a swig of the vodka.
We sat talking and joking and finishing off the bottle, as the music and people in the other room kept going. It was quiet and peaceful in here, and Ashton was always good to chat with. As I swallowed the last drop of vodka and discarded the bottle, I felt a hand on my knee. I turned to see Ashton looking at me, his stare somewhat warm as his eyes pierced into mine. I kept his gaze for a moment, before pulling myself closer to him. Ashton's lips ghosted over mine for what seemed like hours before he pressed them against mine, our mouths effortlessly connected, yet it felt so... intense. I slid my hands around his neck as he deepened the kiss, a feeling of pleasure filling my mind and body.
The kiss lasted a short amount of time, but as we pulled apart, I could tell that the incredible tingling I was feeling was also what Ashton was experiencing. His brown eyes glimmered and a dimple formed on his left cheek.
'Wow,' he smirked.
