[A/N: so, double upload cos I feel like these chapters are really short and crappy, so two at once is the least i can do. Enjoy x]
Seven.
The weekend soon ended and the day we all dislike the most arrived. Monday.
And this particular Monday, I had multiple assignments due in. Did my lecturers hate me or what?
After handing in every piece of work needed, I was free to do my own thing for the afternoon. My first thought was to go find Calum or Ashton, but the music rooms were empty. I wandered aimlessly around campus for a while before bumping into Melissa and her friend, Talia.
'Hey hun, wanna come to the beach?' Melissa asked.
'Uh, sure,' I said hesitantly, 'Let me just go get ready.'
'Okay, we'll wait out the front of your building,' she called as I headed off in the direction of my apartment.
When I got to my flat I rummaged in my drawers for something to wear. I wasn't exactly very confident about my body, especially if I would be in my togs next to Mel and her perfect body. After endless outfit changes I realised no matter which bikini I wore, I was still going to be shy about it, so I reluctantly slipped on my bright pink and blue halter bikini and a pair of jean shorts. I chucked a flowy white singlet over top and put my towel, phone and keys into a beach bag.
I met my friends down outside the apartment building and the three of us walked the short distance to the beach. It was a scorching hot day, so as soon as we got there we stripped down to our bikinis and raced across the sand without a second thought.
Once we were in the water, I could hide most of my body below the surface. Like I had predicted, Melissa and Talia looked stunningly flawless making me feel so self-conscious. Talia was in a baby blue bikini and board shorts, her blonde hair effortlessly neat, and Mel wore a bright orange bandeau with black bottoms, complimenting her white-blonde hair and tan skin.
After a quick swim, we laid out our towels to sunbathe, the strong sun drying our hair and skin quickly. It had been a few minutes before we heard laughter and voices getting closer. The talking came to a whisper as the people came close, and I opened an eye to see Michael standing over me with a sandcastle-bucket filled with water, Cal, Luke and Ash standing behind him.
'Dont you fucking dare,' I hissed at him as he teasingly tilted the bucket.
'Fine,' he shrugged, walking straight past me and dumping the water straight onto Mel, who had been asleep in the sun. She let out a loud scream, before getting up and chasing after Michael, attempting to throw fistfuls of sand at him. The other boys laughed as she finally caught him, giving him a hug. Michael groaned as a soaked Mel dampened his tshirt.
He walked back over to us, moaning as Mel gave us all a smug grin.
'Im all wet now,' he moaned.
'That's what she said,' Talia winked, now sitting up. We all giggled, the boys sitting down in the sand with us as Melissa dried herself off with her towel. We chatted for a while and I soon felt myself getting overheated again.
'I feel like another swim,' I said, gesturing towards the sea, 'Who's coming in?'
'Not me, I think I've had enough water for today,' Melissa said, glaring at Michael who smirked. I turned to the others, who all shrugged apart from Ashton, who pulled at the neck of his tshirt.
'Okay, I'm in,' he said, pulling the shirt over his head. I cheered, trying to ignore his toned abdomen and dragging him into the ocean.
We both plunged straight into the water, as we came up Ashton swore at the cold which I was already fairly used to. I giggled at his reaction, floating on my back and forming a starfish. He did the same, still muttering about how freezing he thought the water was.
'If you're that chicken, try going under again,' I told him, standing.
'Okay, breath-holding competition,' he smirked, and I nodded, both of us counting to three before taking a deep breath and ducking below the surface.
It had been less than 10 seconds and Ashton pulled a face at me under the water, causing us both to burst into laughter and come up for air.
'You suck at this,' I giggled, poking him in the chest.
'Hey, you're the one who laughed at my silly faces,' he stuck out his tongue, causing me to smile.
Without another moment passing, our lips crashed together in a swift, strong movement. I couldn't even tell who had kissed who, it was like the moment was just meant to be; like it was fate. Our wet lips stayed pressed together, the kiss never deepening but it didn't need to. There was more passion in it than I had ever felt.
As Ashton pulled away I was disappointed, but I had to ask.
'What... What was that?' I stuttered. Ashton looked at me for a moment, his gaze intense.
'That was what we've both been wanting to happen for weeks.' A tiny, gentle smile formed as he said those words, a smile so small that it was barely noticeable, yet so powerful that it held so much emotion .
I said nothing, just smiled back for a minute or so, I was happy for two reasons. One: I was realising I had been wanting to kiss him sober since we'd met, and Two: he had been wanting to do the same.
