I woke up early on Sunday morning.
Emma was still asleep next to me on the sofa.
I layed there for five minutes, then decided that I'd better get up to get an early start.
The sun was just starting to come up, which meant that it was around five in the morning.
I sigh and carefully drag myself up from the couch. Then, I pick Emma up and walk to the staircase.
After I lay Emma down in her room, I go to mine for a shower.
I let the hot water pelt my skin until I can't feel it anymore and my legs are a little weak from standing when I get out.
I go into my room and check what time it is. 5:43, the clock reads.
I spent a little more time getting dressed. Blow drying my hair and trying to comb out the stupid curls.
Eventually I just give up and my hair is flat and coils up at the end of it. I always hated doing my hair.
I put on just enough eyeliner and mascara, to make my green eyes brighter and apply a little lip gloss.
Then I go through my drawers and find a pair of black leggings and a white spaghetti strap T-shirt.
I grab a dark blue cardigan from my closet to go over it and put on my matching blue vans.
I grab my backpack with the strings that has everything I need in it. My wallet, cigarettes, keys, phone, etc. Then I go downstairs and to the kitchen to get something to eat.
Daniel and Chase are both in the kitchen talking about something that I don't care to hear.
"Good morning, Jackie." Daniel says, smiling at me. "I didn't imagine you as a morning person."
I shrug. "I have a few errands to run. Why not start early?"
He nodded and took a sip of what I'm guessing is coffee.
"What exactly do you have to do?" Daniel asked, and I'm not going to say that the question nagged at my temper a little bit. I hated when people questioned my business.
"I think it's only fair, that Laila and I are made aware of your activities. Since you are going to be living here for a while." He added and smirked when he saw my irritated expression.
I sighed. "I have to go to the bank to get money for a car. Then I have to look for a job. Happy?"
"Oh, good. Chase was just headed to the bank, maybe you could tag along with him." I narrowed my eyes at him, ready to decline but I concluded it to be best if I didn't give him any reason to be suspicious.
Besides, it's not like I care about whether Chase is there or not, I just need to get it done.
I shrugged and got a protein shake from the fridge. "I don't mind."
I know the real reason why he wants me to go with Chase. It's because he doesn't trust me. After my first day here I wouldn't blame him, though. I'm a disaster waiting for my cue.
Chase got up from the table and dumped his bowl in the sink before grabbing some keys off the counter.
"Come on." He said to me and I followed him out.
I couldn't help but notice, that something is off about him.
He didn't give me any snarky comments or malicious smirks. He even walked a certain way, with his shoulders sagging slightly.
Not that I care about his feelings, I was just taking note that something is bothering him.
I followed Chase to a blue Challenger and waited for him to get in and unlock the door.
