Chapter 15- Sundown

The sun was almost fully set by the time I had gotten outside to the courtyard. I walked into the courtyard quietly as the last few rays of its golden light dipped below the distant horizon. I walked around aimlessly for a little bit in the darkness with my school bag, as well as my bag of cosplay outfits, in my hands. I couldn't find anyone around me so I sat on a bench and waited for them to arrive, knowing that someone must have asked me here for Nova to have told me to come to the courtyard alone. A cold breeze passed through the air and I couldn't help but shiver from not wearing a jacket, or any warm clothing. I felt a jacket drape over me and embrace me with warmth. I turned to see who had wrapped it around me and was surprised to see that it was Takashi. I looked at him and I couldn't help but meet his gaze, unable to turn away I just continued to stare into his black eyes as he stared into my own midnight purple ones.

After about a minute or so, he finally decided to just sit down next to me on the bench. I kept my hands in my lap and stared down at my shoes. There was a silence until I decided to grow up and break it.

"Why did you ask me here Takashi?" I asked, against all my efforts to keep a monotone my voice a low and weak. I cursed myself in my head for showing him that I was hurting

"I had to say sorry. I remember you Skye, I just didn't recognize you." he said, not looking at me once

I was a little taken by his response but it put me slightly at ease. "Oh." I said, looking down at my hands, delicately placed in my lap, as I was playing with my thumbs shyly.

"You just look very different. I never forgot about the black haired girl with beautiful dark grey eyes that I fell in love with years ago. I just didn't know that you had changed your appearance so much. Now you have violet hair and midnight eyes. You got taller and tanner too. You put in a lot of piercings. Please don't hate me for not recognizing you the other day." he said softly. I looked at him but look away when I seen his eyes. His eyes, I could see were full of sadness, worry, and hurt. They were clouded over and he looked as if he were about to cry. I never saw him like this before and I hated seeing him like this now.

"Don't worry Takashi. I won't. I could never hate you. No matter how hard I try to be mad, I can't hold any anger towards you. I only end up being mad at myself." I said I a soft voice, a hint of a sad smile on my face and a single tear that streamed down my face. I quickly wiped away the tear and looked back at him.

He pulled out the gun that he had given me years ago "Stay protected." he said, smiling at me.

"I don't need it, not anymore. I have you and everybody else right now to protect me, even if I don't need protection." I said, attempting a laugh or at least a smile. I managed to smile and let out a small and quiet laugh.

That last part made him laugh as well "Your right, but keep it anyways." he smiled again at me, while sliding the gun in my hand.

"Thanks for asking me here Takashi, I'm glad that you're my friend again and that we can get past any trouble we had. Maybe one day we can be more than friends again but I'm just not ready for anything like that right now." I said while I gave him a hug and a kiss on the cheek.

"It's fine." he smiled and hugged me back

I stood up and grabbed his hand, smiling warmly at him "Come on." I said happily

"Where?" he asked me, confused

"Well I'm heading home but Haru is in the same building as me so you can come with me and get Mitsukuni. He's with Haruhi right now." I explained to him while dragging him along.

"Oh. Ok." he said simply

When we had finally got to the apartment building Mori went to get Honey from Haru and after he got him he walked me to my door. "Thanks Takashi but you know you didn't have to walk me back to my door right?" I smiled at him while handing him his jacket "And thank you for lending me you jacket."

"No problem." He smiled as he took his jacket from me

"Goodnight Takashi." I hugged him

He hugged me back for a little bit, before pulling me into a kiss "Goodnight Skye." he said quietly and smiled sweetly at me.

Honey hugged my leg "Nighty Night Skye-Chan" he cooed in his adorable happy voice

Mori and I both laughed under our breath at his childish actions. I ruffled his hair and giggled again "Night Mitsukuni."

"Kneel down." he said in a playful and happy voice

I keeled down so we were at eye level with each other and giggled "Now what?" I teased him a bit

He kissed my cheek and hugged me "It may not be by blood but we're family Skye-chan." He held me in a tight hug after that.

I kissed his cheek and hugged him back "Always." I stood up and turned to face Takashi "It's late. Did you guys want to spend the night?" I offered "There's a lot of crazies out there." I added and laughed softly

"And you're one of them" he joked with me "But sure."

"YAY!!" Mitsukuni jumped with happiness

I giggled at Honey's outburst and picked him up in my arms. "Come on."
