The Beginning Of Forever

Chapter 5

Katies POV:

 We decided we weren't going ot get married until both of us had graduated from school. We continued to date, and go on like normal. Not many people knew we were engaged, really the only people who knew were a few of our close friends, and my family. My senior year Jacob decided to move into the house and he asked me to move in with him since i could move off campus now. 

"What if they don't like me? What if they hate my accent?" I was pacing back and forth in front of the tv in the living room where Jacob was watching the Scotland vs Liverpool soccer game. When he suddenly grabbed my hand to make me stop walking. 

"Katie, they will love you. If they don't who cares?" He kept trying to reassure me. 

I sighed, "Jake, i care. I care if they like me." 

"Well, even if they don't, i love you more than anything and that's all i care about." 

I wasn't very convinced and i think he could tell because about that point, he grabbed me around the waist and pulled me into him and kissed me like he never had before. This continued for a while until his phone started ringing. AS he stopped kissing me he groaned in aggravation.  Just because he had to stop didn't mean i had to. So i kissed his neck. 

"Hello? What? Slow down. Okay Mum, start from the beginning. How long has he been sick? And you're just now telling me?! Mum, i can't just drop everything here and come home! No!" Jacob sighed as i could hear a woman on the other side of the phone begin to cry. "I...I'm sorry mum i didn't mean to yell at you...I'll do what i can okay? I'll call you back. Bye." As Jacob hung up the phone i saw tears begin to form in his eyes as he stood up. "Dammit!" I jumped a bit at him yelling because i had never heard him yell like that before. 

"Jake, what's wrong? Who's sick?" I asked standing up. "Answer me babe. What's going on?" I walked over to him trying to get him out of this trance he seems to be in. 

He takes in a shaky breath "my granddad...he's really sick, he was like a father to me after my dad left us. He came to live with me and my mum and brothers.  Now, he's sick and he might die. I'm not ready to lose him Katie. I can't lose him!" He started to break down into tears. I embraced him in a hug and we sat on the floor and he cried. "I need to go home...to Scotland..." 

"I know sweetie..." I was running my fingers through his reddish blonde hair gently, "if you're going, I am going with you." 

"No, Katie, you've got graduation coming up, and finals...i can't ask you to do that, to leave everything. I don't know how long i'll be gone." 

"Jacob, listen to me and listen good, i love you and i would follow you to the ends of this earth if you asked me to. I am going with you to Scotland.  And that's final." 

"How do i even deserve you? Huh?" He asked gently putting his hands on my cheeks. 

"I have no idea..." I smiled and moved closer to him if that was even possible. As he looked into my eyes i could tell he meant that he loved me that much. 

When i woke up the next morning there was a note and a flower next to me where Jacob should've been. The note said:

My dearest Katie, I love you so much and I know you wanted to support me through this time in my life and my families life. But I couldn't just ask you to drop everything in you're life just for me. I don't know when I'll be back, but i will be back. I'll call you everyday. I love you so so much. Tell your mother and family i said hi. Go home for Christmas. I love you babe.

 All I could do was cry. I didn't know what to do. So I packed a bag and went to Kentucky to see my family.
