While trying to battle the never ending wall of water, Regalia realizes why Caput’s face would not stop haunting me.  His is the face of the boy who relayed Anja’s message to me and also he is the apprentice to DVorjack. . All four of us can not fit on this meager raft; the thought that one of us will have to sacrifice our life is running across my mind. Who will it be? Who will not be able to see the next morning?

“This raft will not hold us forever, Aleksey mutters with his eyes cast down. I…I was thinking that..”

“No”, Regalia surprises herself by jumping to his defense even though she knows the raft will either sink us all or one must die. She  lowers  her  voice back to its normal octave before continuing.

“Aleksey, we can all make it. I vaguely remember, but I do know that I can call on the animals. Maybe an aquatic animal can carry you to higher ground.

Before Aleksey,  could  even respond to my plea, Caput thrusts his feet toward my husband. Sage and Regalia watch in horror as Aleksey tips out of the raft and into the embrace of the water. Every part of me wants to send Caput to an early grave, but what is done is done and the past can not be changed. Aleksey’s death will not be in vain; Sage, Caput and I will murder our mother and stop this cycle from happening again.  Anger fuels Regalia  as she direct the winds to do her  bidding.

Sage glances at the reincarnation of his sister, his conscience haunting him more as they gained speed. Caput knew what must be done and did not question the other two. All he wanted was a safe place and that witch, that is supposedly his mother will not take DVorjack from him. He knew it was wrong to push Aleksey off the raft but better a sacrifice then four sacrifices.

The siblings know that they have to emerge victorious and the burden weighs heavily on their hearts. The women in the sky continues to over flood the land with her water. Once again, as history always repeats itself, the legendary three stand their ground on their floating raft.

“Regalia, we need a plan,” Sage asks his sister even though he already knows the answer.

Regalia glance at her  brothers. Before convincing myself that my way is the right way.

“Of course we need a plan! How can you be so calm at a time like this! That woman murdered my friends! Look around you! As far as the eye can see, water is there and where is this father of ours?”

Caput the silent one, spoke on behalf of his sister. “Sage, if history keeps repeating itself then don’t you think it is time for us to learn from our past?”

Sage shifts unceremoniously as he thought over these words. Tradition is important yet there is nothing wrong with change. Grigori, there is no time for will do.... do better now. That is the only way, echoed in his mind. A smile planted itself on Sage’s face, “I guess we have to murder her. Of course, I believe in justice and an eye for an eye”

Caput began to clear the water away by cracking the earth’s surface in half. As the water drained, Regalia used the remaining water to propel herself and Sage into the air. The Queen, silently judging her offspring, cast ice and hail in their direction, but anger is a powerful emotion and she underestimated Regalia’s love for her friends and new family.

Sage and Regalia pivot away from the falling hail and return the favor to their mother. Normally, the two would ensnare the women in a cage, but the Queen wondered why she was not captured by now. The sky fight raged and shook before Regalia called down lightning and fire. Caput, exhausted and battered, collapsed on the raft and let his brother close the rift in the earth. Sage manipulated the flora causing the Queen to divert from her original position.

A ground fight it shall be, the Queen thought to herself.

The battle raged on for so long that Caput recovers and joins the battle. On the brink of morning, there are three victors and one bloody indistinguishable mess of flesh. Finally, the link between the present, past, and future reincarnations is severed.

“Looks like the battle is won,” Caput comments smugly.

Sage and Regalia regard the boy in disbelief. “The battle may have been won, but we still have to face someone else,” Regalia gave voice to her thoughts.

Caput laughs at the grim faces of his elder siblings. “Who could possibly challenge us?!”

Right on cue, lightning strikes the area Caput once was.

 “Our father”.
