"Come on Ava, we have to go now or we'll be late!" I called excitedly. Dad was already in the car and we were going dress shopping for Avalon, tonight was the night she was going to finally confess her love to Chris, her best friend of nearly 5 years and boyfriend of three years.
I hopped into the back seat, Ava getting into the front. I pouted and crossed my arms, "Why does she always get to sit in the front?" I complained.
Our dad laughed, "Because she's older than you A". I opened my mouth to protest but he cut me off, "You can sit in the front on the way back, ok?". I nodded happily and my dad backed out of our long driveway.
We drove for a while since we lived about half an hour away from the mall and good shops, plus my horrible school. I get bullied a lot, I honestly don't know why. Ethan used to be my best friend but one day, when we were 7 he began pushing me around. Shoved me into the sandbox in the playground (got sand in my eyes, nose, ears and somehow, my hair), pulled me off the monkey bars (I broke my arms) and pushed my off the slide, making me break my leg.
But I had Ava helping me out and backing me up so it wasn't too bad I guess, she was 14 when I was seven so she was in high school. She never got bullied. In fact, she was popular. I envied her so much.
Ava was on her phone texting someone, probably Chris.
My dads phone pinged and he took his eyes off the road for a second to check it. Without realising, he had begun to press down on the gas pedal and we were going a lot faster than the speed limit.
"Daddy!" I cried, startled at how fast we were going. "Yes sweetie?" My dad asked me, not looking up from his phone.
Ava looked up though, sheer panic crossed her face. "Dad" She warned.
"What Ava?" My dad looked up this time and realised how fast he was going. "Oh shit" He cursed. I blocked my ears, I hated swear words.
My dad tried to press the brakes but it was too late, we coursed through a red light and the next thing I heard was a loud truck horn.

I woke up, staring at a white, bright light. I blinked, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. My throat was dry and my mom was sitting by my bed, her head in her hands.
"Mommy?" I rasped. She looked up, anger and devastation in her eyes.
"Aspen, baby oh my god, I thought I lost you too" She got up and ran towards me, hugging me gently.
"What do you mean...lost me too?" I asked warily.
"A..Aspen...Daddy and Ava...they're" My mom stopped short, letting out a sob. "Mom?!" I exclaimed, "What happened? What happened? What's wrong with dad? What happened to them? Is Ava okay? Please tell me they're okay mom" .
My mom just looked at me and shook her head, "I'm so sorry baby girl...Avalon and Dad...they're gone" She whispered.
"No...NO" I screamed. "NO NO NO NO NO NO" I started thrashing about in my bed, screaming over and over again.
"Aspen, stop screaming baby. It's okay, momma's here" My mom cooed, holding me close to her.
"Mom...they can't be gone...I need Avalon...I need dad. I need my big sister, mommy" I sobbed into her chest, slowly beginning to feel tired.
